Where is Lita?

Does radio host Eddie Trunk know what he's talking about or is he just fueling the fires of the Rocklahoma rumor mill?

According to my very good friends on the Rocklahoma message board, Trunk recently said Lita Ford would be playing Rocklahoma 2008. I'm skeptical because Lita seems pretty happy in her retirement, but I definitely think her performance would be something to see.

Still, I'm unconvinced. Nothing points to a Lita performance...but if she does play, will we get a mini tour as well?

In the 1980s, Lita reigned as the queen of glam...then she sort of fell off the face of the earth. Was this her way of bowing out gracefully, or did she see the writing on the record label wall?

I remember reading a 1990 issue of Metal Edge and checking the criteria for the annual people's choice awards. People continually voted Lita as the best female artist and the magazine editors wrote something to the effect of "Lita is great but she hasn't released new material in a long time. Maybe you should pick someone different."

So, do we want Lita and more importantly...does she even want us? I don't think I have the answer to either question.

That would rock if Lita came back..I have the Twisted Sister christmas cd where she sings a duet of "I'll be home for Christmas" with Dee Snider and she sounds awesome!!!..No different from what she sounded like years back..Sure hopes she comes back..Great article Allyson!!!..Take care =)

I posted a very similar article at HRH last night. I was listening to Eddie Trunk's show last night when he made the slip up.

He never said Rocklahoma......he stopped at Rock....

Then he said, wow I almost slipped up there.

That tells me all I need to know. How else would Eddie have any recent dirt on Lita? I listen to his show weekly, and I usually know more about what is going on than he does. With him being the emcee at Rocklahoma 2008, I am sure he is privy to inside info.

I don't know. She seems pretty happy living in paradise with Jim Gillette... Lita rocked, no doubt, but she hasn't released anything in years and years and frankly WHY was she ever given the title of "Reigning Queen of Metal"? Is it because there was a real shortage of women that made it to the top of the heap in the '80's?
Hey, I'll take Roxy Petrucci anyday. Then again, Lita certainly has the "six degrees of seperation" going...

Will she be at Rocklahoma? Who knows. I'll be surprised though. And is it just me or does it seem like "everybody" is reforming or regrouping and dropping hints that they'll be playing at Rocklahoma? My theory is that every band that had at least one "hit" song in the late 80's - early '90's have entertained the notion or have the desire to play Rocklahoma and regain something of their past glory...

Allyson Lita Ford would be a great act to see especially for people like us who were too young to see her live in her hey day, but hey isn't that what Rocklahoma is meant to be about? A celebration of the music?

PS maybe Lita can hook up with her old love Mr N.Sixx and do a duet on stage or something..Now I'd lOVE to see that!!!

The Eddie Trunk thing was just a blind blurb to start a buzz. Yes, Lita was asked to do Rocklahoma, YES she's been asked before, YES she is asked ALL the time to come out and do shows. NO she hasn't done them, probably WON'T do them either. She did the Twisted Sister CD because it was "safe" She didn't have to travel, she didn't do PROMO, and fans still think she's LITA from the 80's lookwise. THAT is the problem with playing the "sex" card and marketing your career with your looks. Absolutely she was a good guitarist, but face it, guys didn't pick up a guitar for the first time because Lita's playing blew them away. Talented? Absolutely, but just as "afraid" to come out in the public spotlight. Not just because of the "looks" aging either, face it, she has KIDS...what child wants MOMMY being the boner of the month MILF? There are a lot of variables keeping Lita from doing anything. Face it, she went back undercover after the backlash of her lost sexiness when she did some of the VH-1 interviews over 5 years ago. Those Lita things you see on the "new" VH-1 poop culture shows are OLD FOOTAGE from 5 years ago. They aren't new...how do I know? I am the "insider"

Hey BillyKiss! I didn't forget about Warlock/Doro, but Johnny D from Britny Fox is her drummer and he's a home grown Philly boy like me, so I didn't want to diss him (or her). I hung out with Doro a few years ago (2001) at a club in Philly when BF did a few shows in the area. She was very, very cool.
