Fastway Friday

I really like the band Fastway. I'm pretty sure "Say What You Will" is one of the single best rock songs ever recorded. Fastway's history is long and complicated and intertwines with some of the biggest bands in Metal including Motorhead and UFO. There is no point in my going over that winding history - just click here to read and learn.

*Note: many of you probably know the band Flogging Molly. They are not really my cup of tea, buy former Fastway singer Dave King handles the vocal duties for Flogging Molly now - and they are enjoying quite a bit of success in the punk arena. Good for them I say!

Now, for the videos. Of course I've included "Say What You Will." While Fastway are more of a traditional Metal band, there are some clear Glam elements in this clip, especially Dave King's hair and the super skin-tight pants on the video vixens. Watch and enjoy.

Even more entertaining is the video for "All Fired Up." Yes, there are race suits. Yes, there are (more) skin-tight white pants. Yes, this clip rocks. Watch for yourself.

Finally, I have to include the clip "The World Waits for You." We'll call this a "semi" power ballad. I'm pretty sure Bonham "borrowed" the video concept - or at least the staging - a few years later to support the similarly titled song "Wait for You." Coincidence? I guess the world may never know.

***Of the three videos posted, which is your favorite and why? I am still sticking with "Say What You Will" as my favorite because - at least for me - that song sums up classic Fastway. I can't wait to hear your responses.

In a perfect world, Fastway would be the last TBA added to the Rocklahoma line-up. I am not holding my breath.

Fastway is great. They are one of my Summer bands. As soon as the weather gets nice Fastway is in my CD player. Call me odd but I think music can me seasonal. Fastway is summer time beer drinking music. It doesn't have quite the same effect on a cold winter night. Pink Floyd is great on a cold winter night but not something I would listen to at the beach.

I always end up playing Say What You Will whenever I pick up my guitar. That riff is just awesome.Fast Eddie outdid himself when he wrote that one.Easy Livin' is also another good raver from those guys.

I Agree on "Easy Livin'" Gary. The entire first album is great! So "Say What You Will" gets my vote also. My favorite song from "All Fired Up" is "Tell Me" so the title song is only second best in my opinion. The video for "Tell Me" is wonderfully silly with Dave simulating prayer. "Trick or Treat" is also pretty good, and I agree the movie isn't half bad either.

I love Fastway. I have their "soundtrack" album, "Trick Or Treat". It kicks ass! My favorite Fastway video is, "Bad Bad Girls", but you don't have it up there. So I'll go with "Say What You Will". Another good one, is "After Midnight"!

Wrong Joe.
Easy Livin', Same title two different songs:

Uriah Heep:

This is a thing I have
Never known before
Its called easy livin
This is a place ive
Never seen before
And Ive been forgiven

Easy livin and Ive been forgiven
Since youve taken
Your place in my heart

Somewhere along the lonely road
I had tried to find you
Day after day on that windy road
I had walked behind you

Easy livin and Ive been forgiven
Since youve taken
Your place in my heart

Waiting, watching
Wishing my whole life away
Dreaming, thinking
Ready for my happy day
And some easy livin

Fastway:

Raising like the Mary from below the sea
She's got easy livin'
Dancin' in the evening till a quarter to three
She's got easy livin'
She's never had a worry
She's never in a hurry
Slithers like a snake with the greatest of ease, well
Ooh, ooh here she comes again
And you know, you know what that spells
You've got trouble with a capital "T"
I wish you luck but she's gonna be full of history

Jumping up and down like a flying trapeze
She's got easy livin'
Bowing to her king like a fairy queen
She's got easy livin'
She's never had a worry
She's never in a hurry
Slithers like a snake with the greatest of ease, well
Ooh, ooh here she comes again
And you know, you know what that spells
You can go but you never can tell
I wish old Bill come and put me in jail tonight

Reachin' for the top
Just like the tour Eiffel
She's got easy livin'
Don't know much about it but she'll need her trapeze
She's got easy livin'
She's never had a worry
She's never in a hurry
Slithers like a snake with the greatest of ease, well
Ooh, ooh here she comes again
And you know, you know what that spells
You've got trouble with a capital "T"
I wish you luck but she's gonna be full of history
Well, you can go but you never can tell
I wish old Bill come and put me in jail tonight

One of my favorite bands that never got the respect they deserve was Katmandu.
If you love Dave King's vocals when he's belting out rock, check out Katmandu.

For some reason the track listing they have isn't accurate, but the album cover is right and description is right.

Here's a video...

Not the best song on the album, but still good.
