Motley Crue and Poison to Tour Together?

So, interesting. I get off Shiprocked and I start to catch up on metal news...and Metal Underground is reporting that Motley Crue and Poison are hitting the road together this summer.

*Head scratch*

Don't get me wrong, I think Motley and Poison would be a very fun ticket, but it doesn't necessarily seem like something Nikki Sixx would be interested in...let alone Bret Michaels. And who headlines? Do they alternate? Who else is on the bill? I'm skeptical to say the least but I'm sure we'll get some concrete info in the days to come. What is your opinion?

Tomorrow, my entire Shiprocked wrap. I have stories. Lots of them.

For as much as I love both bands, I dont think itll be a great idea. I mean Poisons show is really good. Bret cant sing super great but its better than that wail Vince has now. The headlining thing is kinda odd. This is the reason Bon Jovi and Def Leppard will never tour together. Those guys are great friends, but one wont want his ego busted by going on first. Motley Crue is more likely to tour with Stryper (strange I know) mainly cause the guys in Crue are really good friends with the guys in Stryper mainly because they were on the Strip around the same time and even played some early shows together.

I think I'd rather see Poison play a headlining tour with a few up and coming glam bands. Get Poison along with Bad City or Dirty Penny and some Swedish sleaze band like Crashdiet or even Crazy Lixx/ Itll get those bands some much needed publicity in the US.

I say why not. Great idea. Kiss opened for Aerosmith and visa versa several yrs ago, and ego was fine. its all about the money.

Metal Sludge is reporting this also, but they have Bret Michaels making the announcement personally:

According to The Windsor Star, POISON singer Bret Michaels announced during last night's (Saturday, November 13) solo concert at Caesars Casino in Windsor, Ontario, Canada that POISON and MÖTLEY CRÜE will celebrate their 25th and 30th anniversaries, respectively, in 2011 by joining forces for a tour. No further information is currently available.

Bret care less to be in Poison anymore so I'm sure they would open for MC. That way Poison would have less overhead by doing a scaled back show, and instead of the same 15 song set list Poison has been doing for the last decade, they can scale it back to 12. Bret can collect his check and go back on the road with his solo band to promote whatever his latest T.V. show will be.

I think its a good idea, however it going to be all about the $$$$$$!!!

I'm out. I'm tired of the same poison tour every time, and usually only attend for the support acts. However, I'm done with Vince, and refuse to support him after his recent drunk driving arrest. The guy is an A-hole. I'll save my money when this tour rolls around.

This would work GREAT for me. Crue for me and Poison for Mama... no need to seel this one to her. lol.

Who cares about the egos or the fact that it's the "same old" stuff that they always play? A show featuring the (arguably) 2 biggest glam metal bands is all good.

Ozzy and Halford are touring together, why can't Poison and Crue?
November 15, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterShadow
Crue will headline.

The two need each other since they are both essentially the top of the heap of L.A. Glam Metal.

It should be called the...

"Poison Crue" Tour 2011

...and even though Vince is a total pr*ck -- more on this later, as I had a one on one, mano y mano moment with him last Friday night on Shiprocked -- Motley Crue is Motley Crue and Vince seems to work it a little harder than he duz his solo trip, as he is totally half-as*ed when it's just him doing a show.

So even tho both he and Michaels have shot voices (could they ever really sing anyway?), the music is still there and both bands still have the classic line-up.

since so many people have both Crue and Poison albums and are die hard fans of both, the pairing of these bands is a natural masterstroke.

Bring it!

I'll be in the first 5 rows for sure when they come to Orlando or Maryland.

Sh*t, why not have their Baltimore/DC tour date folded into M3? In other words, just have their tour date for that area be M3?!

p.s. I'll dispatch my Shiprocked! comments on Allyson's forthcoming piece on the subject once it's posted! All I will say is, YOU MUST go on it next year! Absofrickin' rockin' unblievable, as you will see...

Bret hinted that this was going to happen back in June in an interview with Billboard. I have no doubts it will happen and that some god awful reality show will come from it. They can get Sebastian Bach to be the opener so he can be the host of the show. Maybe each band will go the album route and perform their debut albums in their entirety.

You would think I would be over the moon about an announcement like this but I'm NOT! AT ALL!!! It'll be nothing but poser "Fans", the same greatest hit set lists and OVERPRICED tickets....I'm just BURNT OUT!

I'm curious if Nikki will address this too, he's been very vocal about not ever wanting to tour with Poison. $$$ talks though so that's how the business rolls....

My Vote is for CRUE to put CRUEFEST out next summer and Poison go out with Whitesnake.

I also don't want to see M3 waste excess $$$$ in the pot to get Poison or Crue.

Metalboy, I would contend that vince actually had a decent set of pipes from Shout at the Devil through Dr. Feelgood. Before Shout, he hadn't learned how to sing on pitch yet, and after Feelgood his voice was shot. As for Bret, I don't think he ever had much of a voice. Most of Poison's songs require only about a one-octave range to sing, and Bret can't even pull that off live. If this tour must happen, I think crue should headline. Poison put out two albums that the majority of casual fans care about, whereas crue put out five. Personally, I won't be attending as I saw both bands back in the 80s, and don't care to see them now as neither band has held up that well in live performance.

I thought the same thing, Will!

How killer would it be if both bands rose to the occasion and put out honest to God quality new albums and tour off those?

Then people like Kari might be happier about it.

What gives, Kari?!

"Poseur fans?"

Dost though think Metalboy! a POSEUR?

I bleed liquid mercury, kid!

Are you sure you aren't just fried from Shiprocked! like I am?

After all, you lost your voice, too, just like I did!

Later, Metalgatorz!

Bob,

I saw Crue twice within the last 5 years and I was pretty impressed. Of course, it helps to sit so close to the stage you actually feel like you're getting a tan from the pyrotechnics.

And they sounded great, including Vince's vocals. However, that cannot be said of Vince Neil, solo artist, who I happened to catch both at M3 and now, Shiprocked! just this last year.

Talk about mailing it in. He has really turned himself into a carnival novelty act because he just comes across as taking advantage of the ticket buyers since he only shows up for the beginning and middle of his show and lets the band do the rest of the heavy lifting in the middle.

This way, Neil only has to play two thirds of the show.

My ex-lead guitarist, who obligingly came along for the cruise, jokingly referred to Shiprocked! as Shipripped!, since Vince is totally taking advantage of both the promotors and the fans. Of course, the monumental performances of Cinderella and Tesla more than made up for it...

I think the tour could work and I am all for it. I'll be there and for RockGod's sake, get the new albums out ASAP!
November 15, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
Oh, and all of the other bands on Shiprocked! more than made up for Neil's calculated short falls, too!
