Iron Maiden Release 'El Dorado,' Announce New Album

Heck yes! Iron Maiden just released a new song called "El Dorado." Listen to it three times and then make a judgment. This is definitely a song that takes a few listens to fully appreciate.

The new album will be called The Final Frontier, due out August 16. Since Maiden is a band that doesn't mess around, the guys also released the track listing:

1. Satellite 15....The Final Frontier
2. El Dorado
3. Mother Of Mercy
4. Coming Home
5. The Alchemist
6. Isle Of Avalon
7. Starblind
8. The Talisman
9. The Man Who Would Be King
10. When The Wild Wind Blows

Iron Maiden's Final Frontier World Tour starts tomorrow night in Dallas. So have you heard "El Dorado?" If not, listen and give me your opinion!

It is a good song. Did not blow me away, but it will grow on me. Saw them two summers ago for 'Somewhere Back in Time'. It was my first time seeing them, and they were unbelievable. It is so cool that our bands are still kickin out the albums. Music is back: New Ratt, Winger, Maiden, Keel, Scorps....on and on and on. AND it is all good.

Instrumentally the song is great. Lyrically not so sure. I've heard Bruce sing better than this but I'm sure after a few listens the song will grow on me.

Killer production, solid but not ground-breaking music, amazing lyrics, decent vocal delivery but dickenson can do better. All in all, I like it a hell of a lot, and I'm not even a huge Maiden fan. I could easily see this blaring out of my speakers to the consternation of my neighbors.

its not bad. the beginning sounds like " wasted years" .

Im with KixKixass... instrumentally it was good. Vocally, I think Bruce sounded flat. He can do better.

I agree with most of your comments: Bruce could have sounded better (it is only mp3 192 kbps though, not flac), but instruments are good (heavy, good riffs, good bass as always!).

Still, I'm sure the album will kick our butts... once again

A sceptic at my first listen, slightly enamoured at my second and fully engaged at my third. As an, ahem, older fan (I've got the grey hair to prove it), I've always found that the songs with longevity take at least a couple of listens before they settle. Now I can't get the tune out of my head. And how like Maiden to find a mytholigising approach to commentate on the current financial mess the world is in.

Bumble,
I thought the beginning (basically the bass line) sounds an awful lot like Run To The Hills!) Good song.Typical Maiden...

its a good song. i 've listen to it a bunch of times. and it does have almost the same bass line as "HILLS" i can hear in spots were bruce's vocals sound flat or hollow, but not a bad song...

Check out this article about the opening night in Dallas and the controversial set list with NONE of the classics. I am going to the Cleveland show and I hope they change it up by then!

CK - is Running Free not classic ? Is Hallowed be thy name and Number of the Beast not classic ? Sure, most of the set list was from the last three albums, but they toured classics last time. They alternate, every fan knows that, The merch has been printed, the paintings they have up between songs are done, no way will the set list change.

I didn't hear one person complain, and everyone around me seemed to know the words to the newer songs better than me. I still loved it, I was at the barrier, and while I'll admit I enjoyed the SBIT tour more, I definitely preferred for them to do songs I'd not heard live before this time. If anything, this will help me get in to some of the newer albums more than I have before.

I am seeing them again in Houston and San Antonio, I'll be posting a full review after I've seen all three shows.

Christian, I have watched some stuff on youtube and they sound great! I have also downloaded the songs that I didn't know on the set list and they sound great also. It's just that I am 39 and seeing them for the first time and would love to hear Aces, 2 Minutes, Wasted yrs, Run to the Hills, Trooper, Flight of Icarus or Madness. They didn't play ANY of them. I have always liked going to shows that contain about 75% of the hits and some new stuff thrown in hear and there. I am sure when I see them I will know the songs by then and will not be disappointed. Looking forward to your review of the other shows. UP THE IRONS \m/
