VH1 Classic Celebrates National Metal Day

Happy National Metal Day (according to cable network VH1). Apparently today's date: 11/11/11 seemed overtly metal to some VH1 brass, thus bestowing the special honor on us all this Friday. To celebrate my first National Metal Day, I'm boarding a jet plane and heading south to Florida to get ready for ShipRocked. The cruise leaves Monday but I've got lots of work to do in Florida before the fun can really begin.
But back to Metal Day. So VH1 Classic is airing all sorts of special metal programming today including the premieres of Behind The Music Remastered: Megadeth at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the exclusive debut of Banger Films’ groundbreaking documentary series, Metal Evolution, at 10 p.m. ET/PT and the ninth season premiere of a VH1 Classic original That Metal Show at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
I'm most excited about the documentary Metal Evolution (I've got the DVR set). It was made by Sam Dunn who did the fabulous Metal: A Headbanger's Journey in 2005 and Iron Maiden's Flight 666 in 2009.
There will be special metal programming all day long on VH1 Classic, including lots of Metal Mania videos and movies like This Is Spinal Tap. Be sure to celebrate the day!

Happy National Metal Day!
Gotta hand it to the Metal Contingent at VH1 Classic!
So far I've caught Priest, "Making Of 'British Steel'"...
"Metal Pop-Up Videos", which is proof positive that even the most annoying things in life dramatically improve when fully Metalized.
Biff from Saxon on Chump premiere at 11.
On beforehand, at 10: Potentially unimpressive 10-part series, "Metal Evolution", which will more than likely wholly ignore our fave genre, Glam Metal. If I'm wrong, I'll eat my Official Autographed Limited Edition Slash Top Hat. It will still be interesting to watch just how wrong Dunn will get it wrong,
however.
But...
"Can I Play With Madness", "Run To The Hills" and "2 Minutes" are the only songs I'm gonna throw you guys. "Flight 666" is a total
frickin' bore. I still don't get what you guys see in 'em, seriously.
p.s. One buzzkiller, however -- when I started watchin' a block of videos, "Cherry Pie" by Warrant kicked it off. That vid was followed by...Ugh!... "Something In The Air Tonight", by Phil
Collins. What's with VH1C? Shame they have to hedge their bets and can't go all in when it comes to their own concepts like NMD. It's just another example of what went wrong with these networks, once Freston was paid off! All Hail!: "All Metal or No Metal!"
Zzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!
Only 7 minutes left 'til National Metal Day is over, but Metal lives on forever!
Okay, I won't eat Slash's top hat or Angus' school boy cap, or Jeff Beck's pork pie hat, for that matter, but I gotta say, Dunn, no matter how annoying he is, has delivered the goods with his excellent 10-part documentary series, "Metal Evolution" on VH1 Classic.
And Axl's interview on That Metal Show is phenomenal! He also allowed Chump to show concert footage just filmed a couple of weeks ago in Miami including a full song. Make sure ya catch a rebroadcast!
Brutal!
However, one of my deepest regrets is not having seen Dickinson when he toured off his solo effort, "Tattooed Millionaire", a vastly superior piece of work than anything Maiden ever produced!
12/12/12!!!
p.s. Didjya see the Axl interview on Chump? Mind-blowing!
I agree with VH1C being unimaginative. they play the same 30 videos on Metal Mania. The used to have a show called the Vault where they played videos you have not seen since the first aired. It was terrific.
Axl was alright but his hat annoyed almost as much as his new fake teeth. He looked like a cartoon.
