Glam Is Back; Tracii Guns To Perform on 'The Price is Right'

Yes, you read that headline correctly: Tracii Guns, of our beloved L.A. Guns, will perform on The Price is Right. The game show airs Monday-Friday here in America.

Tracii wrote this on his Facebook page:

"Just found out I get to shred on The Price is Right next Tuesday and it airs May 9. I will be playing the Dean guitar that the contestants will be bidding on...I only get 10-20 seconds so, I gotta just shreddddddd!"

Yep, Tracii will be demonstrating a prize guitar, which I think is pretty cool. Now be sure to set your DVR!

Jimbo. It's for the studio audience to bid on.

I hope the price was right for Tracii to do this gig.

It'll cost you at least $12,000 to have Jimmy Page or Jeff Beck to phone in a guitar lead and they are very picky about the project.

Still it's a great opportunity to Bring Back Glam! in a big way.

How far Glam Metal has come since Buckcherry brought it back singlehandedly, in mid-1998 with "Lit Up".

I believe all of the events over the last decade or so, and many I have simply spaced out have added to Allyson's cause to Bring Back Glam!

If you can think of any other big seismic shifts helping to advance our cause, please add to this comment section...

In no particular chronological (as in "way out of") order:

Glam Metal and Classic Metal consistently played in NFL Stadiums for years. Twisted Sister, Ozzy and Crue consistent favorites.

Aerosmith plays The Super Bowl.

Aerosmith plays American Music Awards, performing "Pink", live in Las Vegas where Tyler jumps into the swimming pool of the MGM Grand.

Many Metal Websites are launched but only one is dedicated to an original concept and idea!...

Launched in December of 2006 (what a Holiday present to The Rock'n'Roll World!), BBG! or, is the only spot in the entire web universe where the cause to advance Glam Metal back into the forefront in our culture and The World of Music never ceases (except for a few random posts about GaGa, Michael Jackson or somebody non-Metal slips in, for some strange reason, hahaha!!!)

Kiss reunions.

Kiss releases a new album, "Sonic Boom" exclusively in Wal-Mart.

Kiss plays televised Super Bowl warm-up party.

Kiss on Idol.

Crue releases "Saints Of Los Angeles" album.

Crue goes on tour.

Crue plays "Home Sweet Home" on a televised benefit for Katrina victims with violin section.

Tyler gets his voice back and Aerosmith tours.

Huge Annual Summer Festivals featuring major "legacy" Glam Metal acts are launched.

Joe Perry appears on American Idol and Ellen DeGeneres.

Ratt releases an excellent album, "Infestation", of all new original material.

iTunes features 1000's of new and old Glam Metal acts from all over the world.

Keifer gets his voice back and Cinderella tours.

Our heroes get on huge computer games like Rockband and Guitar Hero, etc.

Sweden builds a HUGE Glam Metal Scene with bands like Reckless Love and many others in the forefont. Reckless Love was signed to Universal.

80's sounding New Glam Metal bands are forming all over the world. Hansel in Australia. Dirty Penny, Vains of Jenna, Crash Diet and others figure prominently.

Ratt's Glam Metal anthem, "Round And Round" is featured prominently in the Oscar winning film, "The Wrestler", starring Mickey Rourke and Marisa Torme.

Brett Michaels wins Donald Trump's "The Apprentice" Contest.

Michaels damn near dies doing it, creating huge indirect attention to our beloved genre, including this site, as Al observes a spike in hits during his time in the hospital.

Kix plays L.A. for the first time in 20+ years.

Kix plays Europe for the first time ever -- in Sweden, I believe.

Junkyard reforms with original guitarist Brian Baker for a few dates. Wildside has a reunion in L.A. Rock City Angels has a 3 date reunion in Ft. Lauderdale. Many others reform or have short reunions because of Glam Metal's resurgence.

Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale "duet" as they sing Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" in it's entirety during a key scene in the Oscar winning film, "The Fighter".

Famous Glam Metal guitarists are featured playing lead guitar for the outros to the commercial pods for That Metal Show on VH1 Classic. Tracii Guns, George Lynch, Doug Aldrich are but a few of the many guitarists featured.

Many Glam Metal songs are featured consistently now as the music for television commercials, as Al has consistently documented here."Heaven" by Warrant is but one example, as it was the music for a P&G Laundry Detergent spot.

Bad City is the first new Glam Metal band to be signed to a major record label, in this case, Atlantic, in years. They hail from Chicago.

Carlos Santana faithfully covers Def Leppard's "Photograph" on his newest album, "Guitar Heroes", released February 2, 2011.

Motley Crue, Poison and The New York Dolls announce a major tour for Summer 2011.

Alice Cooper is inducted into The Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame.

James Durbin, a prominent contestant on American Idol, the #1 TV show in the U.S., is a Heavy Metal Kid performing nothing but Metal or Metalized versions of songs on Idol. A high pitched singer, he is THE real deal, sounding like a front man of an 80's L.A. Strip Hair Band, not a pretender like Daughtry or some other clowns who have hogged up the airwaves on Idol previously.

Zakk Wylde appears on American Idol with James Durbin.

Iggy Pop, one of THE Godfathers of Glam Rock (and Punk, for that matter) performs on American Idol.

Tracii Guns appears on "The Price Is Right".

A veritable "Who's Who of Glam Metal" will be out on the road this summer, due to this ground swell of interest in our favorite genre of music pushing the envelope ever further to Bring Back Glam!

Rock ON!

p.s. Please let me know if I missed anything or if I need to adjust something in my Timeline. I'm sure it's all over the place but I figured we had to start somewhere.

Good list Metalboy, but while you mentioned the resurgence of the metal-fests, you left off what (in my humble opinion) singlehandedly put glam metal back on the map in a BIG way: The first Rocklahoma festival: Poison, Twisted Sister, Ratt, Dokken, LA Guns, Great White, Jackyl, Queensryche, the last performance of the inimitable Kevin Dubrow with Quiet Riot, and many more. Thousands of fans in the broiling Oklahoma summer sun, gallons of weak beer flowing, and a great time had by all!

There have been many more metal festivals since that time, as well as some big ones still to come (M3!). Although Rocklahoma has 'lost its way' from the earliest inception, it was the one festival that started it all and proved that old adage: "If you build it, they will come..."

Absolutely, you're right, Gator!

And you, too, I'm The One!

Plus, I forgot to put anything on that Crumology about Darkness, who I think did just as about as much to Bring Back Glam than Buckcherry. (I'm calling it a Crumology because I'm too lazy to chase down the exact dates for all of this and put it in proper chronological order)

And while we're on the subject of Tracii Guns, Holy Metal!, I've just been watching about 5 solos in a row and could have kept going right through the portal to YouTube Al's got here (or whatever you tech savvy people wanna call it).

I just watched the vid she has posted here and at the end it does that YouTube thing that let's you click onto the next vid up, which, in this case, happens to be another and another and another killer solo after killer solo.

Just keep watchin', wait 'til the next one comes up, click on it and you're onto a new one and repeat 'til you just can't take it any more! The guy is an absolute animal of the first order!

Tracii Guns is the biggest unsung Guitar Legend of the 80's era. I saw it for myself 6 times all in the 80's and early 90's, including '87 at The Country Club in L.A. before L.A. Guns got signed! KILLER!
