Is Queensryche the M3 Headliner?

M3 is May 11 and 12 in Columbia, Maryland. Queensryche is listed as playing on May 12. Does this mean that 'Ryche is the headliner? Perhaps. It's possible they are in the slot right before the headliner, but that's about it. I've seen Queensryche headline lots of festivals, including Rocklahoma and ShipRocked. For that reason, I was hoping for another band, namely Europe.

I already knew the early slots will (likely) be filled with bands I've seen several times, and that is fine. I was just hoping for someone different in the headline slot. As for May 11, I'm assuming Kix gets that headline slot, although you never know I guess.

So, we'll add Queensryche to the bands we already know are playing the festival including Warrant and Quiet Riot.

Here's a cool retro Queensryche clip I found last night. Enjoy.

From what I have heard it looks like Queensryche is the Saturday headliner. I too hope that they do add another band as the headliner. Nothing at all against Queensryce, but if they do headline I sure hope they play at least 85% older stuff. There is no arguing that Queensryche is a talented band, but to me M3 isn't about talented bands... It's about fun bands, party bands. To tell you the truth I was a bit bored by Queensryche a couple years ago at Rocklahoma.

I do promise to have a really good line up for the M Pre-Party this year. If anybody knows any bands that might be interested in playing Thursday night let me know. You can have them email me at dtoxinproduction@aol.com

I've got the club booked and I have one band already scheduled. Also, let me know if you have any ideas on how to make this years Pre-Party better than last year.

I'm crossing my fingers that Queensryche isn't the main headliner on Saturday.

Hey Rock It. Do you have Wildstreet booked for the pre party?

If Queensryche is the headliner, I'm thinking I would not enjoy the ending so much. I've never really been a fan, dont own any albums, and I agree....it would not fit the M3 theme. However, I have never seen them in concert...so I guess they'd go on my list.

I am hoping Def Lep....That would be great.

Queenzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........

Can I just come to the pre-party, Brian L?

So far, this is shaping up to be a Borefest, not a Rockfest.

Let's hope not. I'm with the others on this! What a buzzkill if they are headlining either day. At least if they played in another slot, there's another band playing on the side stage or opportunity to socialize until their set ends.

Agreed hope they do not headline

I like Queensryche, but not sure if its enough to get me to M3. Hoping for some other cool bands when they announce the full lineup. Maybe they are in the number 2 slot....wishful thinking?? If memory is correct (which is iffy) I think they were in the number 2 slot the first year of Rocklahoma, then headlined the next year.

I have a few of Queensryche's albums, but they are pretty boring live. The Monster's of Rock cruise has most of the bands I want to see live this year, including Kix twice. I may skip M3 this year unless they book better bands than Queensryche and Frankie Banali's solo band.

I just saw them a couple months ago and they were terrific. M3 is facing the reality in that there are only a handful of bands that could headline their fest. An act that will fit their "fun" demo Def or Whitesnake or Poison, maybe RATT.

The Ryche would be fine playing M3 but NOT HEADLINING!
M3 better get there crap together and announce a descent line up Im getting nervous about this year and I already committed to a room and flights.
Europe as a headliner?? you gotta be joking they could barely play the second stage.

I agree with the Europe comment..If they headlined, that would even be worse.

Wow... So far I am not excited about M3 AT ALL.

I have to say... I do agree that Europe is not even close to headliner material. It would be cool to see Europe as an earlier band though. Agreed that there are only a handful of bands capable of headlining a festival like M3. To tell you the truth, I was on a bands guest list last year for Saturday (Black N' Blue) that played the back stage.. so I only had lawn passes. I really had no desire to be in the seats as nearly every band I wanted to see was on the back stage. The only band I really wished I could have seen a bit closer was Danger Danger. I have way more fun on the lawn because of the atmosphere there. I've seen all these bands close up when they were in their prime, now for a festival I'm more than willing to see them from the lawn. I wasn't thrilled about Whitesnake last year so even if Queensryche is the headliner it will not bother me that much. I like the atmosphere of the back stage and the bands that play back there are usually because they have less of an attitude and are just happy to be playing. They don't seem to be hung up about needing to have the main stage to put on a great show.

If you are going to M3 make sure to consider being in Columbia before Thursday night. This years Pre-3 Party will be at least as good as last year. I aiming a lot higher this year so do try and be there if possible.

Wow! I cannot believe everyone is bashing Europe so much. I have a group of at least seven that will attend, from Michigan, if Europe is added to the bill.

I don't thing anyone was exactly "bashing Europe". I just think most believe that they are not headliner material.
January 21, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRock-It
Not sure, but I heard Guns N Roses were being courted to headline M3.
January 21, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterThe Insider
Ah, but which G'n'R, Insider?
January 21, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
The new GnR that has Tracii Guns and Jack Russell. Frankie Banalli is on drums.

Headliner or not, Queensryche is a great addition to M3. They're one of the most talented bands out there and they're the sole reason that I decided to do ShipRocked this past November.

I can't believe people are bashing Europe. Unlike most of these bands, they have continued to have a viable career with new music that actually sells, and is well received. But even their string of 80s hits puts them on a similar level to a band like Whitesnake IMO.
