Motley Crue, 'Evening In Hell' Videos Surface

Motley Crue is currently in the middle of their second residency at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Dubbed an Evening in Hell, the Crue are apparently using a lot of fire in their show this time. Thanks to YouTube, we don't have to travel to the desert to get a Crue fix!

A lot of very insightful observations Him. I agree with pretty much all of it.

Twenty years ago (!!!) life was a lot more fun, carefree and filled with constant moments of excitement, good times and humor.

Today, for myself anyway but I suspect I'm not alone, life is mostly about obligations to employers, children, spouses, ailing parents, etc. As a smart man once said "Where have all the good times gone??"

This has to contribute to the aura of magic that accompanies our fond memories of classic bands and their classic performances.

Him: I don't think roth would (or does) disagree with you. vince neil on the other hand??? I've often heard roth exclaim, "I've become a diplo-maniac" and when he's been asked what he means by this, he has sometimes explained, "I wish people were as hard on themselves as they are on me." Then he quips, "It's difficult to be as great as me." but that's dave. meanwhile, eddie van halen (sober or not) is far from the epitome of balanced mental health. he reportedly is "sober"; yet he still holds so much bitterness and resentment toward sammy as he did (and still does) toward dave. as different as they (sammy and dave) are, one common theme they both maintain (sammy MUCH more so than dave) is that eddie doesn't/won't/can't "let it go". as the beatles sing and tom keifer professes...let it be.

I'm not sure that really applies to me. I was born in 1981 & I got into Motley Crue when I was 7 back in 1988. I have a brother who is 10 years older than me & I asked him to tape me a copy of "Too Fast For Love" because he would always play it & I thought it kicked a$$. My first ever concert was Motley Crue in 1994 w/John Corabi on vocals. For me I love everything the Crue did from 1981 to 1998. Everything after that to me is very sub par. I make no excuses for all the outside writers & Vince not sounding like he used to. I don't think they have made really any good decisions in the past 15 years. I can't stand it how they have been touring pretty much nonstop for the last 5 years with no new CD to promote. "S.O.L.A" is already 5 years old. I want them to at least take one last stab at a killer new CD. Instead of Vince destroying his voice even more year after year doing the same old tired setlist. So I am not an apologist. All I meant by my previous comment defending Vince Neil's bad voice is that what did people really expect after 3+ decades of touring & all the drugs & alcohal I'm not shocked at all that he sounds the way he does. Motley Crue as a whole has been a big let down to me since 1998. I still love them but "Generation Swine" was the last CD that I really loved of theirs(along w/"Bitter Pill" & "Enslaved" from the 1998 hits CD). So If I'm guessing right about what you are saying I 100% agree the sad reality is they are not what they used to be.

Hey Rita, I am with you on the past and present. Nostalgia is a great thing in doses. We are who we are now. We were who we were. Music helps us remember and forget, and it brings a lot of people together. That can't be bad.

Hi Fletch. Great observations. You strike a nice balance and weave in some wonderful points about DLR.

I apologize, Jakki, if I too quickly lumped you into my narrative tornado. I see your point(s). I suppose the more succinct point is that we all have our favorites, the ones we root for even after the glow has worn off (for whatever reason). And, in the moment, at the concert, if we close our eyes a bit, we hear what we used to hear and see what we used to see. That isn't bad whether it is Crue or VH or Faster Pussycat or Tom Jones! Like food and drink, we are a part of what makes it special (often more than we know or realize). [Sidebar: I would have loved to have seen the Corabi tour.]

And bkallday, well, I guess I lost you. Admitting I am like you was meant to suggest I get as riled up as you do on occasion. Sure, I like the new VH album. As I tried to suggest (and I failed I guess), we are all fans who sometimes see (and hear) things others don't. That's what makes us fans. I have nothing to prove to you and you have nothing to prove to me.

I just figured a bit of texture fit the topic. Nothing more and nothing less.

No need to apologize. I wasn't offended at all. I just noticed next to the other people here my history is a little different since I was a teenager in the 1990's instead of the 1980's. I just became a fan at a young age. They are the band that got me really interested in music. "Too Fast For love" was the first tape I ever owned.
And yes it was really cool seeing them live w/John Corabi. I just wish I could find a bootleg DVD from that tour.

Thanks for the follow-up Jakki. Appreciate it.

One of my first metal experiences was the Crue as well. Even if some others didn't notice it, I have a lot of fond memories of their music and tours (especially during most of the time-frame you mentioned earlier).

I've only seen the rehearsal bootlegs online and some of those really hashed out concert snippets posted on YouTube. A full concert would be incredible.

I have a lot of respect for Corabi as well. As I noted several months ago, he was one of the kindest rock stars I have ever met. A gracious man and an under-appreciated talent.
