The Best Of 1985: #7

Happy Sunday. Time for my 7th favorite video from 1985... from one of my favorite bands, ever: RATT and the amazing "You're In Love."

This one always vies for "first" (though it was first) with "Lay It Down" on this album.

Both songs are great. But the "Lay It Down" video featured that creepy kid and Chucko the Clown!

Best way to remember Ratt are songs from this era. The self-imploding fiasco they became is almost too sad to think about. Not even Croucier back in the fold could save them. Which is a shame. With Crane and Cavazo, they had some stability. Problem is, with Croucier, back, Pearcy found an ally willing to dig up past slights and financial mistakes (seemingly, ones that Pearcy made, not the other way around). With Blotzer, well, he can barely find his keyboard. But when he does, get outta' the way! He shoots himself in the foot so many times, you would think he was a centipede. Just proves talent is a combustible thing and that age doesn't heal all wounds.

God I love this song. The dropped D riff that opens it and drives it along is perfect. Like Him so deftly states,it's a real shame that these guys couldn't just get along. Some real talent in the band. DeMartini is a monster guitarist, one of my favorites from the entire era. I never realized what a great drummer Blotz actually was until I was watching the the video for "Dance Dance Dance" yesterday.Freaking guy is an animal.Such a shame him and Pearcy try to outdouche each other on a constant basis. I thought Infestation was one of their best releases ever, proving they still had "it." "It" being the ability to write incredibally catchy, driving songs.(IMHO Best Of Me would've been a monster AOR hit back in the day.) Guess we'll never know if they had yet another one in them, thanks mostly to Pearcy's over inflated opinion of himself and Blotz's affinity for "wine and whine"......

Pearcy is STILL and ALWAYS will be pissed that he lost the name of the band HE created! In his book it makes it very clear. HE started RATT its HIS name and it was stripped from him in court! Ripper cant blame him!!!!!

Now THIS is more like it! Towers over Night Ranger and Bon Jovi!

Just on sheer musical adventurism and decibel levels, they just blow those two bands out of the water. They're just not even in the same league as the almighty RATT and shouldn't even be on the list.

It makes you wonder where this is all going but I'm anticipating appearances by Cruë, Poison and Cinderella, knowing Allyson.

Now, if they could just get RATT to suck it up and get on The Monsters of Rock Cruise: Monsterwood, embarking from L.A. October 2016. You've already got Junkyard, Britny Fox, KIX, Vain and then mostly the usual suspects who are always on it.

But RATT n' ROLL is really what they need!

Ratt together will not happen! Pearcy has a disdain for the Blotz! Lets get ARCADE back together!

C'mon, Ripper... Arcade is just OK. And boringly, so. It's RATT we want!

Him: With thee most humble respect, admiration and appreciation, please remember that one man's perception is another man's reality. slights happened (on purpose and specifically)...and you can quote me. I don't see it as shooting oneself in the foot, but rather, letting go of it and being done with it. pistons poppin'

True enough, Fletch. True enough. I suppose my "armchair quarterbacking issue" with Blotzer is that he has backtracked so many times it is unseemly, almost pathological. You can only salt the Earth and then tickle the chin so many times.

Ripper gets at the issue of the band name. Which I totally understand. But that was taken care of long before they got things back together for the Infestation sessions. It was over. So that is one that doesn't really help Pearcy's case. That said, Pearcy has been fairly above-board during this latest slinging of mud. He is doing his thing, releasing his singles (set your auto-tune on stun!), and playing shows. He is, for better or worse, the voice people want to hear.

All the while, DeMartini says--as he always does--nothing. Reason? He doesn't need the cash or the drama or, it would seem these days, another set of rotating cast members to keep the Ratt train moving. Others in that band aren't so lucky or secure or both.

DiMartini came from money so it was never an issue..he was set for life from birth. On that note I LOVED this song, this era of what was a great band,,

"Your In Love" is a killer Ratt song & video!
Ratt is my 3rd favorite Glam metal band of all time (behind only Motley Crue & Hanoi Rocks).

A reunion of Ratt or Arcade would make me extremely happy.
I love both of Arcades studio albums & (the unreleased/demo/live song CD compilation) A/3 kicks ass as well.

It sucks that Ratt broke up but at least they went out on top w/'Infestation' that CD rocks!

Great pick. It's a damn shame, shame, shame, (sorry for the pun) that this band can't keep their shit together. I guess egos are more important. Early stuff is rad and the Infestation album was killer. We miss ya Crosby. True rock n roll.

It's true, Jakki... They really did redeem themselves with "Infestation", perhaps The Greatest Glam Metal Comeback of All Time! And speaking of DiMartini's wealth, I heard he footed the bill for the production of that album.
