The Best Of 1985: #7

Happy Sunday. Time for my 7th favorite video from 1985... from one of my favorite bands, ever: RATT and the amazing "You're In Love."

Both songs are great. But the "Lay It Down" video featured that creepy kid and Chucko the Clown!
Best way to remember Ratt are songs from this era. The self-imploding fiasco they became is almost too sad to think about. Not even Croucier back in the fold could save them. Which is a shame. With Crane and Cavazo, they had some stability. Problem is, with Croucier, back, Pearcy found an ally willing to dig up past slights and financial mistakes (seemingly, ones that Pearcy made, not the other way around). With Blotzer, well, he can barely find his keyboard. But when he does, get outta' the way! He shoots himself in the foot so many times, you would think he was a centipede. Just proves talent is a combustible thing and that age doesn't heal all wounds.
Just on sheer musical adventurism and decibel levels, they just blow those two bands out of the water. They're just not even in the same league as the almighty RATT and shouldn't even be on the list.
It makes you wonder where this is all going but I'm anticipating appearances by Cruë, Poison and Cinderella, knowing Allyson.
Now, if they could just get RATT to suck it up and get on The Monsters of Rock Cruise: Monsterwood, embarking from L.A. October 2016. You've already got Junkyard, Britny Fox, KIX, Vain and then mostly the usual suspects who are always on it.
But RATT n' ROLL is really what they need!
Ripper gets at the issue of the band name. Which I totally understand. But that was taken care of long before they got things back together for the Infestation sessions. It was over. So that is one that doesn't really help Pearcy's case. That said, Pearcy has been fairly above-board during this latest slinging of mud. He is doing his thing, releasing his singles (set your auto-tune on stun!), and playing shows. He is, for better or worse, the voice people want to hear.
All the while, DeMartini says--as he always does--nothing. Reason? He doesn't need the cash or the drama or, it would seem these days, another set of rotating cast members to keep the Ratt train moving. Others in that band aren't so lucky or secure or both.
Ratt is my 3rd favorite Glam metal band of all time (behind only Motley Crue & Hanoi Rocks).
A reunion of Ratt or Arcade would make me extremely happy.
I love both of Arcades studio albums & (the unreleased/demo/live song CD compilation) A/3 kicks ass as well.
It sucks that Ratt broke up but at least they went out on top w/'Infestation' that CD rocks!
