Biggest Tour Of The Year Keeps Rolling

The (mostly) Guns n' Roses reunion tour keeping rolling around the world. Now there's clips of the band doing a show in Santiago, Chile. Looks like it was a good one - the clips are great! Now that we're in November and the year is really winding down, I think it's safe to say that this reunion will be the biggest music story of 2016. Time will tell.

I saw the show in July. And i wouldn't have missed it for anything. But-

In hindsight, I would have to say it wasn't worth the money I spent on the tickets. I don't know why but it just didn't blow me away like I expected it to.

Axl was on time and in a good mood (except when he relayed getting pulled over at the border for gun issues (not his own)). He sounded great. Slash was in fine form.

I think what was missing was Izzy. I don't know. Maybe I just spent way too much on tickets and came to the realization a 2 hour show isn't worth mortgaging the house lol. Who knows.

Curious to see others thoughts on the show.

I saw the show in Toronto and loved it! They sounded great and the crowd was into it from the moment they hit the stage. I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to see Adler, but all in all it was one of my favorite concerts of 2016.

But as Rita said, it was a stupid-expensive night - tickets alone were $200 each. Did I love it? Yes! I wouldn't pay to see it a second time, though.

Bryon,

I spent way more than that and saw the same show in Toronto. And if I only spent $200 per ticket, I probably would have enjoyed it more too.

And I will never pay that much again to see a band. But as I said, I am glad I was there. And it was definitely the concert of the year. Totally agree.

Saw them in Cincy this summer. Don't remember exactly what I paid, but it was around $200 bucks for lower ring seats. Having never had the opportunity to see GNR/Axl/Slash, it was well worth it to me. Cherry on the cake was Steven Adler playing with them for 2 songs, and that was the first show where he came out to play with them, so it was a huge surprise. They played for well over 2 hours and 15 minutes, so despite the cost, at least they played a real set (looking at you Bret Michaels). If they came back around a second time, I wouldn't go again. This was a once in a lifetime show, and I'm good. Now if Appetite for Destruction (cover band) came back to play my local club like they did last year, I'd gladly shell out the $10 bucks and enjoy the songs again. I was lucky enough to see Axl with ACDC and GNR this year - both in outdoor stadiums - so they tie for my concerts of the year. Oh, and the ABBA cover band that I saw this summer at my State Fair because, well, it's ABBA. ;-) The winner takes it all.

Now that is a reunion show I would not miss and would gladly pay through the nose to see. ABBA. For real. That would be something.

Hey, if GNR happened, maybe that will too.

Totally off topic of course, but they were offered $1 BILLION for a reunion world tour. They felt they would never be able to recreate the magic from the old days, so they passed on it. That's a lot of $$$!

My opinion about this is well-known. It is the Vegas show-plus Slash/minus-Asshat (at least the one I saw where Duff sat in).

But I am glad people got a chance to see this. Not sure that adding back in Slash, or a dollop of Adler, or a pinch of Izzy . . . or all of the originals all at once would really recapture "it." But as an expensive stroll down memory lane, as a one time thing, I am sure it helped some people cross (if but partially) something off their bucket list.

As a bit of a side-topic: how many of you believe Izzy's comments re: his lack of involvement in the tour?

Him - From what I recall, it was about money was it not? Didn't it come down to Izzy being offered something he considered to be unfair?

What else could it be but that? Would appreciate more color on that as I may be wrong here.

My armchair analysis is that he, Izzy, suffers from extreme anxiety and when he factored in what he would be getting paid, he decided that it's not worth it to take part. IMHO

I agree Fletch - recent articles point to something along those lines - looks like he is comfortable doing what he wants when he wants and see's no reason to disrupt what works for him..
