New Motley Crue Lyric Video... And A Hurricane Question

Motley Crue continues to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Girls, Girls, Girls. The band just released a lyric video for "Wild Side," the best song on Girls and definitely in the top 5 of all Motley songs, period.

Now, a hurricane question: Irma is going to hit America early tomorrow. She's already caused destruction across the Caribbean. Would it be thoughtless to create a hurricane playlist? A couple people have emailed, asking me about this and provided song selections. I'm wary as I don't want to downplay the horrific situation... but man there are a lot of songs about storms and rain. Let me know your thoughts. If most don't think it's a bad idea, I'll make a playlist and post it tomorrow (and probably include a link to donate to relief efforts too).

As far as generating an 80's/Early 90's Heavy Metal Hurricane Party Mix, it's a great idea!

After all, we can always take comfort in great music, which, like laughter, always seems to provide some much needed spiritual (AND comic) relief when we are faced with disaster, potential or actual, before, during and after such an event.

I, but more so, others, may very well be requiring that Sunday night and Monday morning, not as much in Orlando where I live, but in south Florida and on the west coast, as well.

Areas such as The Keys, Miami, Marco Island, Naples, Ft. Myers, are all slated for a direct hit based on several projected paths from The National WHETHER Service!

Still, one has to wonder how real it is and how much is hype. Only time will tell, my Metal Friends. I will keep you posted (literally)!

In the meantime, here are a few of my faves to help you "Ride the Lightning", so to speak:

"Rock You Like A Hurricane", Scorpions (Duh!)
"Calm Before The Storm", Saxon
"Rainbow in the Dark", DIO
"Lightning Strikes", Aerosmith
"Eye of the Storm", Smashed Gladys

p.s. "Wildside" is one of my Faves, Faves, Faves but I won't put it ahead of ANY of the tracks from "Too Fast For Love", Crüe's first album and my first love as far as that band is concerned.

In September 1985, Hurricane Gloria was traveling up the East Coast. I remember many people having "Hurricane parties" and local radio stations were playing the song "Gloria" over and over- from U2 to Van Morrison to Laura Branigan. My neighbors had one such party and I remember it well (well sort of)...if was one of the first times that I ever smoked pot, but this time I got really, I mean "really" high.

I am also sending out a lot of hope and faith to my friends who have homes on Sanibel Island.

I just survived the Houston horror Harvey. It's a scary situation that you are completely powerless to control. Music is an amazing tool that can help us heal, cry, laugh and love.

Throw King's X- Hurricane in the mix for me!

The Houston Food Bank is a great suggestion for our donations....

Don't forget the band Hurricane, with current Foreigner vocalist Kelly Hansen. The band's second album featured Doug Aldrich on guitar, and In The Fire is one of my all-time favorite songs.
