Judas Priest 'Firepower' -- New Song

I'm back at home after visiting Disney World over the past week. I think I picked up a germ there because I have a cold - and I'm very diligent about hand washing and hand sanitizer, too but man, there were people coughing and sneezing everywhere there! I've been resting this morning and plan to lounge all day in preparation for the Super Bowl (go Eagles!)

Imagine my pleasant surprise catching up on the Metal news that I see Judas Priest dropped a new song for us. It's "Firepower" from the upcoming album of the same name. Firepower will be released March 9 and the band will tour as well. Here's hoping that my earache and sore throat go away, that the Patriots lose and there's awesome Metal in all the ads tonight!

Judas Priest, Aerosmith, Bulletboys. Seems like it's the late 80's again.
Hope you're feeling better, and had a great Disney trip.
Thanks for keeping the site updated.
Have a great day.

I dunno . . . it sorta' sounds like Judas Priest covering Judas Priest to me. I mean, it hits all the right notes and covers their usual lyrical ground. Something is missing though.

Am I glad that Priest is still around? Sure. Will I see them live if I get the chance? Of course. Will I buy K.K.'s book? Certainly.

I guess what I am saying is this: the metal gods have sounded a lot more human in recent years. Sigh.

Him, I understand what you mean. I think it's mainly that Halford's voice is finally showing the slightest signs of age. He does more of a kind of talk-singing these days than singing actual melodies. It was his soaring melodies over those powerful riffs that gave Priest their genre-defining sound, and now, through no one's fault, but the simple passage of time, they can't do as much of that now. that said, Andy Sneap is getting some amazing sound out of the band. Sneap really knows how to turn those knobs.

We agree yet again, HIM.

This just BURNS! Can’t wait to get it, though HIM and Bob are right about Halford’s limitations and the music being a little bit by the numbers. Nevertheless, like I said l, it still BURNS despite the shortcomings. I will probably catch them again if they roll through town even if the show may sound more like a Heavy Metal Poetry Reading now.

p.s. Troy, mark my words, Brady will NEVER be in a Super Bowl again. This last one just destroyed him psychologically and he won’t ever recover. All you have to do is see the mental breakdown he incurred as demonstrated multiple times when he cried like a baby multiple times after the game. That said, hats off to him as he will go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, if not, THE greatest, despite the cheating and poor sportsmanship. (where was he to shake hands with the victors? What a sore f*cking loser! NC as in NO CLASS!)
