Great White To Replace Loudness At M3

M3 Rock Festival is next weekend in Columbia, Maryland. The annual Glam festival had a lineup of many of our favorites.

One of the bands slated to appear was Loudness. Now the Japanese band can't get into the country because of visa issues. This has happened to them many times before. Great White will step in and save the day. Have fun to all who are attending. I wish I could be there with you!

I have gone for 8 straight years, and I am passing on this. There is nobody remotely big enough to headline. Having 2 non writing side guys in Queensryche (Wilton and Jackson) headlining the 10th anniversary of a major festival is mind blowing. QR didn't headline the festival when Tate and Rockingfield were still in the band. Pass.

sparky: have you lost your way? nobody big enough? is that a cock reference about 'measuring up'? I thought locker room ideology was over...at least for this festival.

I'm going for Pretty Boy Floyd. I'm staying for Ace Frehley.

I am going to politely side-step Fletch's flurry of Fletchisms and say this: the latest version of 'Ryche (with the drummer) won me over a few years back . . . as an opening act for the Scorpion at The Joint in Vegas. They sounded really good. This is coming from someone who only saw them because of the Scorps and because my friend wanted to get their to see them early. But as a headliner at a major festival? Not sure about that.

And I would much prefer to see Loudness over Great White these days, esp. since I don't quite like the fit of Ilous (though I like other things he did). Moreover, the GW saga has just become a sad soap opera, with Russell slinging mud at Kendall and Co. and them doing the same back. But, when it comes to the songs, I would prefer to see Russell singing them.

SparkyDR99's complaint, though, writ large echoes one comment I have been saying over and over again these past few years (one that others on here have also touched on): the days of a premium, classic metal/glam, experience/festival are over. When the top shelf thins out, promoters start reaching for lower, newer, or more questionable acts to fill the slots. Sad reality.

Him: "When the top shelf thins out, promoters start reaching for lower, newer, or more questionable acts to fill the slots. Sad reality".

I agree with much of your above post, him, except what I just copied and pasted. The sad reality is that when the top shelf thins out, promoters reach deeper and deeper into the pockets of true believers and flag-waving members of the GLAM ARMY (or any derivative thereof; of these bands) and promote it like it's the second coming of...well M3 #1.

Again...I "want' to see PBF (point blank) and I'd love to see Ace Frehley (with an even sharper pencil). Everything else in between is just (mostly) greedy bands and greedier promoters exploiting our generosity to go year after year; which I have no problem succumbing.

Reminds me of a clever joke, I once heard:

The Masochist said to the Sadist, 'Hurt me". The sadist replied, "no".

Great White w/o Jack Russell is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich w/o jelly. Ok for a little, but not something I'd pay for.

badland: no, I don't remember it, but is sounds like the ramones. and (dis-believers take cover), I will be on my way tomorrow, turning on Sirius radio and either luc carl or mike roth will comment about this website. meanwhile, the promoters of M3 hire eddie trump over and over again.

I’m with Sparky. Gotta pass this year ...

As much as I love ‘em, KIX and Pretty Boy Floyd do not a festival make.

The rest are just the same ‘ol, same ol’, boring as hell also rans.

This thing would have been a helluva lot better had they worked it out with L.A. Guns and RATT not imploded.

People would be better off going to the M-Pre Party at nearby Sonoma’s tonight to see STATION, WILDSTREET, MAD MARGRITT, Shokker and Babylon Shakes, then go sightseeing in D.C. until Sunday before heading up to Cancun Cantina in Hanover to catch JUNKYARD, BABYLON A.D., Every Mother’s Nightmare and Kickin’ Valentina.

I can’t believe the 10th Anniversary is so crap, offering no reason to go and then adding insult to injury (of which there are sure to be a lot of) by letting the Rednecks have the run of the place on Sunday. Yee-Haw!!!

I blame the promoters and Trump as idiots love company!

p.s. Badland, I can’t believe I’m saying this but I have that RAIL CD. It’s beyond belief they got signed to EMI America. These goofballs are as dumb as Spinal Tap but I’m not sure how aware they are of that fact. Where Spinal Tap is a spoof, I’m not sure these guys fully realize what a joke they are. That has to be one of the stupidest looking logos I've ever seen and “1 2 3 4 Rock n Roll”, is an equally stupid song. Here’s the thing, though... After viewing the video, I actually kinda like it! Yeah, it’s stupid but in a fun kinda goofball way and the dual guitar solo, as goofy as it is, kinda kicks a*s!!! Thanks for reflagging them for me! I’m gonna throw “1 2 3 4 Rock n Roll” onto my “Party Metal” Playlist!

I remember Rail winning battle of the bands on mtv when they actually played music. Also just saw another cassette Grand Prix - Shout. Early mtv playlist

Holy Sh*t! Badland! Just realized I’ve got Grand Prix’s 1983 album, “Samurai” on CD not realizing until now that’s Robin McCauley (not the original singer) on lead vocals! Will give it another spin! Thanks for another trip into the vaults, Badland!

p.s. Back on topic, as I’ve said before my fave songs by Great White are “Rock Me” and “Stick It”!

Jack T.! What’s this? You’re renouncing your loyalty to a Russian operative placed at the highest level our government and expressing your renewed loyalty to his predecessor who is responsible for the capture of Osama Bin Laden as well as successfully thwarting an attack on Russian mercenaries in Syria? How could you not support the man who bestowed Kennedy Honors on Led Zeppelin in 2012? Kudos for being a bigger man and realizing the error of your ways!🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊2018!!!

It seems like some people on here might be cool to hang with sometimes and talk music, trade tapes cds or whatever but then they keep throwing in politics cuz their butt hurts or whatever reason and it all turns to 💩. I dont listen to music or go to concerts for politics. It would be nice to keep it that way. I know its only rock n roll but i like it !!!!

Man, that’s a lot of keyboards, Badland, and not in a good John Lord kind of way but in a bad 80’s “Cheese Metal” AOR kind of way.

Here’s a just released album from a newer band that’s a better kind of 80’s Style AOR Melodic Rock just released last week ... Captain Blackbeard, “Struck By Lightning”. Yeah, it’s still cornball “Cheese Metal” but a little less cheesy than Grand Prix ... Keyboards, yes ... but with a killer chick singer and way more Guitar crunch! Check it out!

L.A. GUNS supposedly added to the bill for Sleazy Slimey Sunday at Cancun Cantina in Hanover, Maryland on May 6th!

In case you didn’t know, that’s the Sunday following the Rock & Roll lined up for Friday and Saturday at M3, thus providing an out from the hickfest going down there that same Sunday.

That now makes the line-up as follows ... L.A. Guns, Junkyard, Babylon A.D. and Every Mother’s Nightmare!

Hey, man, at least your boy will be remembered for playing “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “Cum On Feel The Noise” at the end of some of his earlier rallies.

RIP in 2018! Want some REAL laughs? Watch Michelle Wolf’s monologue at The White House Correspondents Dinner on YouTube!!!

Oh, that is unless you’re such a stiff, you can’t laugh at yourself like Sahara Hucksterbee Blanders and the rest of the humorless square LIARS on FOX & Enemies, etc., who have brainwashed you AND your fearless leader!!! 🌊🌊🌊🔥💂🏻‍♂️👨🏼‍🌾💂🏻‍♂️🔥🌊🌊🌊
