Tesla Release 'Taste Like' Video

Time for another video from Tesla. The band released Shock a couple of months ago. Now they have a video for the single "Taste Like." Phil Collen of Def Leppard produced Shock. You can definitely hear that Def Lep vibe on the entire album. Personally, I dig it. Metalboy! might disagree!

If I may be so bold as to disagree, IMO this cd has one good song on it(tied to the tracks). I’m a long time Tesla fan but their new cd flat out sucks. What provoked them to have the diminutive elf, Phil Collen, help them with this album, I’ll never know. Def Leppard hasn’t released a good album in 2 decades now, and there’s waaay too much sappy shit on it. Just absolutely horrible! Again, hope I don’t get banned for this dissenting comment but it’s just my opinion & sorry if you don’t agree.

I like the album, it's different for Tesla but I would rather see a band take chances and put out something catchy that rehash the same old stuff just for the sake of releasing product.

The only song that really bothers me is very last track "Comfort Zone" - that one has WAYYY too much of the Phil Collen vibe, especially during the verses.

I'm not opposed to bands growing and trying different things, in fact I think its refreshing sometimes, but it dosent alwsys sound good. This new Tesla album did nothing for me, it just dosent mske sense at all.

Hey, wait a minute! I’m on record saying I LIKE this album even though Phil Colleen turned them into a pseudo Def Leppard clone not quite to the same degree he did to B.B. Steal, but, pretty damn close.

Of course, that’s not a bad thing considering this album is FAR superior to anything they ever did before!

BK nailed it up top in the first post - "Tied to the Tracks" is the best song on the album. Straight up rocker that most (cough, cough) love about Tesla. I recently saw them and some of the Def Leppard soft vibe comes harder when performed live.

Such as "Shock" the title track, when the voice kicks on the chorus, once again leads to why Jeff's voice powers through slow trudging guitar.

"Mission" is also good one right after the cream song of Tied to the Tracks"

The CD hasn't been out of my deck since it came in the mail free with concert tickets. It grows on you, and its something the wife can tolerate :)

So I just checked Amazon. After 114 reviews, this new cd has a rating of 3.5(outta 5). Since it’s so extremely rare to see any cd with a ranking below a 4, on there, this tells me all I need to know. None of their other cds have ratings below a 4, and rightfully so. The majority has spoken and the verdict is in, the new cd sucks and next time, keep Collen as far away as possible! Idk what provoked them to try to suddenly become an AOR band but that’s now what Tesla is. Ugh

Gotta say I also hate the sappy sh*t. I was hoping this album would have REALLY “shocked” by having every track live up to the album title. Once the album goes into soft rock mode, it’s territory where Tesla has always toiled, (regardless of their Def Leppardization) which can only be described as “Wimp Rock”.
