Happy Metal Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving American readers! I hope you enjoy however you may be celebrating this year. I'm sure this year looks different from past holiday seasons. We will all be back together soon. Until then... here's a little death metal Thanksgiving to get you going while you cook the turkey and bake the pies.

Hope you had as splendid a time as was possible, Gary.

Me? I drove my 'woke' Prius to the local co-op and bought a tasty tofurkey and locally-sourced fingerling potatoes, all delivered to my car by a guy (I think) with a hemp shirt on and the most amazing Peruvian 16 gauge nose ring poking out of the ports on his recycled plastic, non-BPA, face mask. As I drove home (making little 'zroom, zroom' noises to myself' as the gentle sounds of NPR wafted about my car like the audio version of the smell of freshly made sourdough biscuits), I had a thought: "Would Gary approve? Really. Would he?" I chuckled to myself as I walked past my Swedish composting bin, realizing that, yes, indeed, I believe he would. With my Sonos casting good cheer throughout my house, I sat down to a lovely meal, the faint whisper of my prayer to Gaia blessing the feast before I used my biodegradable spork to commence with the soul-purifying fun. Namaste indeed!

Never would I have thought what goes into, as well as the consuming, a health and planet conscious meal be so hilarious.

Youโ€™ve done it again, HIM!, allowing FUNNY Gary to take the night off!

I, however, scored not one but three Thanksgiving dinners delivered to my door by friends in the town I only moved to in the middle of last year.

Funny, I didnโ€™t mention to any of them, the others were also bringing me dinners to ensure I would be provided enough leftovers to generate an ample supply of Turkey sandwiches to last me into next week!

AND ... I also experienced a whole new meaning to the term โ€œTurkey Dayโ€ yesterday, when I received a visit from 22 Turkeys casually hanging out in my backyard! ...

My theory on this is they determined the coast was clear because everyone was already either about to, or in the process of, stuffing themselves, as opposed to stuffing their herd chilling outside my huge dining room / makeshift office window.

AND ... I imagine on-trend people like Allyson and HIM, partaking in alternative Thanksgiving meals are also greatly appreciated by this bunch.

AND ... I have what may have a nice tip for you guys if you havenโ€™t heard it already ... Say what you will about Apple Music, but they did provide me with yet another GREAT (IMHO) new album from a band Iโ€™ve never heard of ...

โ€œSURRENDERโ€ by DEATHLORD.

My only possible criticism is the lead singer not sounding like a hyena but he grew on me real fast ... Tell me what you guys think, if youโ€™re so inclined!

AND ... A special, yet belated, โ€œHappy METAL Thanksgiving!โ€ to you, too, Allyson and ALL BBGerโ€™s EVERYWHERE!!!, even those I would normally wish to impale with a black B.C. Rich Ironbird Extreme for boneheaded Comments more misguided than my own!

Thanks for the approval, Gary. I am always looking for some!

Metalboy!, those are some good stories, and you have some good neighbors. Not many turkeys in my area. But, where my brother lives, quite a few. Those things can be massive and loud . . . and can do a bit of damage to a rusty F-150 when they fly out of the barrow ditch and land in your grill as you are driving down a two-lane road!!!

Bkallday, glad to hear you had a great holiday. Cheers to you and your family.
