A BBG! Reader Reviews Motley's Live Show

Today's post comes from regular reader Devin.

I saw Motley Crue and Alice Cooper August 1st at USANA Amphitheater in West Valley Utah. I missed some of Alice Cooper's set because we were late but he put on a really good show for all that I saw. He played "I'm Eighteen," "Under My Wheels," "Poison," "Feed My Frankenstein," "Ballad Of Dwight Fry" and closed with Schools Out" and mixed it with Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall." Really entertaining.

Crue opened with "Saints Of Los Angeles" then went right into "Wild Side" and "Primal Scream." The amps and drum riser I thought were cool as hell. I think Vince sounded good but sounded better in 2011 when I saw them last. A big part of the show came from the Dr. Feelgood album like usual and that was definitely cool. The biggest highlights for me was "Too Fast For Love" and "On With The Show," which is one of my favorite Motley songs. Nikki's speech and "Anarchy In The UK" was probably my favorite part. "Sit down and pretend we're in church" Brotha Sixx!!! My only complaint was the drum solo. I was kinda bummed we didn't get the full thing, but they couldn't do it due to the arena, but some things you can't control. Tommy hung upside down over the stage and was really entertaining. I just didn't like the music he played for it, the dubstep isn't my taste.

Later on came a "Kickstart My Heart" which got everyone pumped back up. They came on for the encore, playing "Home Sweet Home." I heard the guy next to me tell his daughter that he's waited years to see Motley and that this song alone was a dream come true. They got on this stage that rose above the crowd and they played the best version of "Home Sweet Home" I've heard. They showed clips of the bands history on two huge screens. I admit it got emotional for me when the guitar solo hit because I knew it was almost over. I got the chills on the last two verses and ending of the song. My review is probably a bit biased but I don't care. Their music was a huge part of my life and I'm glad I got to see them again. As Vince Neil said to the crowd, "We'll miss you fu%^ers"

Keri Kelli Joins Night Ranger

Night Ranger's Brad Gillis just confirmed that guitarist Keri Kelli has joined the band. You might recall Joel Hoekstra left Night Ranger last month to join Whitesnake. This news isn't a shock because Keri played with Night Ranger temporarily in 2012. I dig it. I'm a huge Keri Kelli fan - I think he'll make a great addition to the Night Ranger lineup. Discuss.

Death Metal Goes Glam

One man (Peter Hasselbrack) death metal band Bloodsoaked just released two glam covers. One is of RATT's "You're In Love" and the other is of Cinderella's "Shake Me." Both are pretty good, I have to say. The covers are from the album Religious Apocalypse.

Our Own Kim Just Met Nikki Sixx

For whatever reason, the last few posts have been all Motley Crue. Didn't really plan it that way, but whatever. This is too cool not to share. Our own Kim Nordlund, all the way from Sweden, just got to meet Nikki Sixx. She posted about it on her Facebook page and I commented that I would be sharing the story here.

Kim's post:

"Just thought I'd update you all with the fact that we met NIKKI SIXX last night!!! NIKKI F--ING SIXX!! How about that?! And no, we didn't pay a million dollars for a meet-and-greet, we got personally (!) invited BY HIS WIFE!! Yes, it's true! After the first show we went to, on Friday, we realized Courtney were in the same row as us, so we went up to her to say hi and maybe get a picture. Little did we know that she would be the sweetest person ever! We chatted for a bit and told her that we'd come all the way from Sweden, how this would be our 6th and 7th time seeing Mötley Crüe, and that we would attend the show the following night as well. She says something about how amazing this is before she asks us "have you met Nikki yet?" We just shook our heads in reply to this crazy question, and then she says she's gonna work it out. "I'll give you my phone number, just text me in the morning and I'll leave some VIP passes at will call for you, and then you'll meet Nikki!" Wait, WHAT?!! So the next day, Saturday/yesterday, we started our morning with sending a text to Nikki Sixx's wife (!) and at the same time trying not to get our hopes up. But she replies, and a few hours later we're finding ourselves at the arena with our backstage passes saying we're Courtney's guests and on our way to meet Nikki! We get in, Courtney comes to pick us up and leaves us with security, telling him "these are my friends from Sweden, take care of them, Nikki knows they're coming" - AND THEN WE GOT TO MEET NIKKI SIXX!! And not just that, he was super friendly and absolutely gorgeous (as you can see)! Still can't believe this actually happened, because this shit just doesn't, does it? It's too surreal?! Anyway, IT DID! And it's safe to say that both me and Malin can die happy know! Just thought I'd let you know."
