Saxon, Whitesnake Added to South Texas Rock Fest

The headline says it all, Glam fans! Saxon and Whitesnake were just added to this year's South Texas Rock Fest. The festival will be held October 7 and 8 in San Antonio, Texas. Also cool is that UFO was recently added to the lineup and there are still more acts TBA.

Ticket information is now on the official festival website. It looks like VIP is available for $250 and two-day advanced tickets go for $60. Single and two-day tickets will also be available at the gate and are priced well under a hundred bucks.

I think this fest looks fun for people in the area. It's also good that it isn't in the summer --sort of spreads out the fun I guess you could say. I'm definitely interested to find out what other bands are added.

Rock on the Range 2011 Review

I spent last weekend at Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio. The fest is always held at Crew Stadium and some 75,000 rockers attended. During the fest, I hung out with my friends, including The Captain from Shiprocked and Johnnie Nirvrana. I even made a couple new friends. I also saw bands like Steel Panther, Cavo, Escape the Fate (pictured), My Darkest Days, Avenged Sevenfold and many more. Check out my review over at Noisecreep. Enjoy your Saturday, dear Glam readers!

The Poison Tour Started...

...and the set list didn't change one bit. Poison kicked off their tour the other day in Tupelo, Mississippi. Here's what they played:

Look What the Cat Dragged In
I Want Action
Ride the Wind
We're An American Band
Something to Believe In
Your Mama Don't Dance
Guitar Solo
Fallen Angel
Unskinny Bop
Drum Solo
Every Rose Has Its Thorn
Talk Dirty To Me
Nothin' But a Good Time

It will be interesting to see if Motley Crue honestly takes their fan votes into account regarding their set for their American tour with Poison. Something tells me Motley will have the same set they always do, just like Poison. More power to them if people keep paying good money to hear the same things over and over. Personally, I think just one rare song from both Motley and Poison would make the tour that much better.

Who here is surprised by the Poison set list?

Now here's video from that kick-off Poison show. I've gotta admit, the band sounds good:

Judas Priest Performs with James Durbin on 'American Idol' Finale

Rock on! 'American Idol' contestant James Durbin got to fulfill a dream last night when he performed with Judas Priest on the season 10 season finale. Priest + Durbin performed "Living After Midnight" and "Breaking The Law." The performance was also the first with new guitarist Richie Faulkner. I gotta give props to Richie: he did a good job.

As soon as Priest took the 'Idol' stage, the negative comments started flowing on Twitter. Personally, I think it is cool and a great way for Priest to get the word out about their farewell tour. Heck, maybe some kids will get interested and see them live when they still have a chance.

Scotty McCreery won 'American Idol.' The top 11 contestants go on tour this summer as part of 'American Idols Live.'

And if there was ever any question about who is my American Idol... well, just watch:

Caption This Photo - Steel Panther at Rock on the Range

What the hell is going on in this photo? The Glam husband captured this image Friday night at the Rock on the Range pre-party. Steel Panther were performing in a line... and something clearly went haywire.

I'm not sure this image is funny, but I think it is... at any rate, I'm not smart enough to work out the caption on my own, so I need your help. And if someone has Photoshop (I don't) and is good at making those fake motivational posters... well, I think this image has potential.

Sick Puppies Added to Shiprocked 2011

SHIPROCKED 2011 ADDS 'SICK PUPPIES' TO SECOND WAVE OF ARTISTS SLATED TO PERFORM ON CARIBBEAN VOYAGE SETTING SAIL NOV. 14-19 2011

Sick Puppies Join the Recently Announced Queensrÿche, Candlebox, Filter and Living Colour for 5-Days and Nights of Hard Hitting Music, Outrageous Crowds and Sun with the Mexican Caribbean on the Horizon

Ft. Lauderdale, FL - May 24, 2011  -  The premier rock festival at sea, ShipRocked, marking its third annual voyage this November, has added another heavyweight band, Sick Puppies (MRI/ Virgin/EMI), to its already jam packed line-up featuring Buckcherry, Queensrÿche, Hinder, Hellyeah, Sevendust, Candlebox, Filter, Living Colour, In This Moment, Lynam, Broken Teeth and Rival Sons.

Sick Puppies are set to play to new fans and rabid existing fans alike onboard ShipRocked 2011, after having shared stages with the likes of Nickelback, Seether, Shindeown, Breaking Benjamin, Evanescence, Deftones, Velvet Revolver, and many more over the past four whirlwind years they've spent in the rock and roll fast lane. The band recently released their latest album, a new, deluxe version of their acclaimed "Tri-Polar," which has sold over 300,000 copies to date, and spawned four top 10 Rock tracks "Maybe", "Odd One", "You're Going Down", and their latest "Riptide" which is currently #2 on the Active Rock radio chart, steering the band's way to appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Lopez Tonight.

ShipRocked 2011 sets sail November 14-19, 2011 from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, heading for the tip of Mexico and its popular stretch of gorgeous Caribbean water known for scuba diving, shopping and bars aplenty.  LA's multi-platinum Buckcherry, along with progressive metal pioneers (and SR 2009 alumni) Queensrÿche, Oklahoma retro rockers Hinder, metal titans Hellyeah (featuring members of Mudvayne and the legendary Pantera), SR 2010 crowd-favorite Sevendust, rock radio mainstays Candlebox and Filter, funk-rock pioneers Living Colour, and LA's In This Moment, led by the vocal pyrotechnics of Maria Brink, are all sure to wreak havoc on the high seas. Main support comes from SR perennials and late-night favorites Lynam as well as the inescapable Texas thunder of Broken Teeth and new sensation Rival Sons and their brand of 70's style guitar groove. With the addition of Sick Puppies, cruise goers have the chance to experience a concert event with an intensity only matched by 20-foot sea swells, helping solidify a four-pronged trident of rock and roll mayhem.

Event founder, ASK4 Entertainment's Alan Koenig promises, "ShipRocked 2011 will truly be the ultimate rock and roll cruise vacation. We've got an amazing lineup of artists, all meeting and greeting fans, performing multiple shows over five days and nights.  We'll be sailing to two exotic ports-of-call onboard a beautiful new luxury liner filled with spacious balcony cabins.  Mix in a lot of fun with the warm Caribbean sun, and it's simply the best value out there."

The setting is the MSC Poesia, one of the cruise industry's most acclaimed new super cruise ships, which features the luxurious Aqua Spa, two pools, four Jacuzzis, a state-of-the-art cardio gym, salon, sushi bar, a la carte Italian dining, wine tasting bar, and the Teatro Carlo Felice, a beautiful and intimate Las Vegas-style theater.

It all begins in Fort Lauderdale, FL, visiting the premier Mexican ports of Costa Maya and Cozumel.  Prices start at only $799 per person (subject to availability), based on double occupancy, and include all access to all ShipRocked concerts and special events, deluxe stateroom, meals, ship facilities, and much, much more!  Space is limited so early booking is encouraged to guarantee your cabin.  Tickets for ShipRocked 2011 are being sold on a first-come, first-served basis, and are only available by booking online at www.GetShipRocked.com  or by calling 1-888-438-9509.

Steel Panther, 'Eyes of a Panther' - Live at Rock on the Range

Tomorrow I'll have my Rock on the Range review, including photos. Today, watch this awesome video of Steel Panther doing "Eyes of a Panther" live at Rock on the Range. The music actually starts around the 3 minute mark.
