Coffee Is So Glam, or Heavy Metal Pitchmen

Ok, I have about a zillion other things to write about, but I'll be darned if I didn't come across a thread on Metal Sludge last night about Paul Stanley. Turns out Mr. Kiss sang a Folgers ad back in the 1970s. I never knew this and I always love learning random facts about my favorite bands/musicians. (If you're not from America, Folgers is a brand of coffee).

If you're from America, you probably remember those cheesy 80s Taster's Choice commercials with the fake soap operas revolving around coffee (seriously, I'm not making this up). Well, Paul Stanley singing for Folgers trumps Taster's Choice any old day.

The ads don't stop with Paul and the coffee. Aerosmith did an advertisement for the Gap about a decade ago. When I saw it the first time, I wept a little - and not out of joy. Here's the clip:

Of course, we all know Alice Cooper has become a de facto pitch man for everything golf. Last night I actually stumbled across an advertisement featuring Alice that I've never seen before (probably because it only airs during golf, and I don't watch that!)

And finally, what makes more sense than having a Metal star...pimp a Metal magazine? A lifetime ago, Slash and Axl Rose joined forces to drum up business for RIP Magazine. I'm pretty sure Slash was either 1) drunk or 2) high or 3) both during the filming of this spot. No matter - the classic Glam pictures are enough for you to push play and watch the clip. Note: operators are not standing by, so do not call!

Does your favorite Glam musician pitch for a certain product? Post the link!

Not exactly glam - but Iggy Pop is currently advertising Life insurance here in the U.K.
Also Alice Cooper (definately glam) advertises Sky+ with Ronnie Corbett (british comedian).

I remember seeing the Paul stanley Folgers ad back in the day. Allyson, be glad you didn't have to see the commercials for the Kiss toys over and over again. "Kiss...that's the name...Kiss...they may look insane....Kiss....If rock's your game it's Kiss."

Forget KISS merchandise, if I ever meet Paul Stanley I'm gonna ask him sign a can of FOLGERS! And I'll say I got the idea from Allyson at Bring Back Glam! (Don't worry Allyson, I'm only kidding.):-D And Bob, I remember that commercial for the KISS dolls, it was SO bad! :-D
