KISS and Def Leppard Current Tour Setlist

Let's discuss the current setlists that KISS and Def Leppard are using on their summer tour together. I'll be seeing the show next month in Cincinnati and I'm more excited about Def Leppard than KISS. I'm a bigger Lep fan and that's just the way it is. Still I wish the band would shake it up a bit and offer some other songs in their set. I can't complain too much - my faves "Animal," "Hysteria" and "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" are all there. But would it kill them to throw in something like "Slang?" I mean, that was a single. I can totally do without "Let's Get Rocked" and/or "Rock of Ages."

Let It Go
Rocket
Animal
Foolin'
Love Bites
Let's Get Rocked
Two Steps Behind
Bringin' on the Heartbreak
Switch 625
Hysteria
Armageddon It
Pour Some Sugar on Me
Rock of Ages
Photograph

The KISS setlist is a little more inventive and all the classics are represented. I'm sure some die-hard KISS fans are clamouring for some more obscure tracks, but that isn't what these co-headline tours are about I suppose.

King of the Night Time World
Cold Gin
War Machine
Hide Your Heart
Christine Sixteen
Shout It Out Loud
I Love It Loud
Makin' Love
Psycho Circus
Let Me Go, Rock 'N' Roll
Black Diamond
Detroit Rock City
Rock and Roll All Nite

So, what do you think of the sets? What would you drop and add if you were in charge?

I'm not going to comment on KISS, just because I don't care what they do right now. Paul's voice is shot and they have imposters playing the roles of Ace & Peter. But that's another discussion.

Now, as for Def Leppard, if you're asking me to make a dream set, it's probably going to piss a lot of people off. Because it's my dream set, right? It's going to be nothing but the first three albums. Yep, a lot of you are tuning out right now.

Have to have something off of On Through the Night, so I'm going with Rock Brigade and Wasted.

As for High 'n' Dry, I'm leaving out Let it Go. But I'm going a bit heavier with this record: Another Hit and Run, High 'n' Dry (Saturday Night), Bringin' on the Heartbreak, Lady Strange and then Me and My Wine from the re-release.

From Pyromania, hell just play the whole damned record, but if I have to pick what I really want to hear: Photograph, Too Late For Love, Die Hard the Hunter, Foolin', Rock of Ages, Comin' Under Fire, Billy's Got a Gun.

There you have it, hate it if you will.

KISS changed it up a little, tonight in Denver, adding a couple of songs.

King of the Night Time World
Deuce
Psycho Circus
War Machine
Shout It Out Loud
Christine Sixteen
Lick It Up
(with the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" inserted in it)
I Love It Loud
Hide Your Heart
Let Me Go, Rock 'N' Roll
Love Gun
Black Diamond
Detroit Rock City
Rock and Roll All Nite
God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You II

I think they could do without "God Gave.." & "Let Me Go R&R" & instead throw in "Strange Ways" or some other great, rarely played tune.

I think it's amusing that now that they've finally started touring the U.S. since the release of "MONSTER", that they're not playing a single song of it.

As for Def Leppard, I'd like to see them ditch a few ballads & play a few more uptempo rockers, like "Rock Brigade" or "Hit & Run"...

I'll be catching the tour in San Diego in 2 weeks, so we'll see if the setlist continues to evolve.

I don't care about Kiss but my dream Def Leppard setlist would be:

"Wasted"
"High N Dry"
"She's Too Tough"
"No Matter What"
"Only After Dark"
"Rock On"
"I Wanna Touch U"
"Promises"
"Work It Out"
"Heaven Is"
"Undefeated"
"Personal Property"
"C'mon C'mon"
"Slang"

Encore
"Let's Get Rocked"
"Pour Some Sugar On Me"

Def Leppard has to get rid of Twu Steps Behind, it just kills the show. Slows it right down and its not a great song. KISS finally changed it up a little. I also think it is funny that they are not playing anything off Monster. The single is great and they could have thrown Eric a bone and let him sing his song which rocks. They don't have to do both War Machine & I love it Loud (drop the latter). Let Me Go is great but they have been playing that almost every tour recently. That can be dropped to for something different, new or old. Also, people say Paul's voice is going (which it is to some extant), but Joe Elliot's voice is nothing to write home about these days.

I would add "Run Riot" or maybe "No no no" to the Leppard setlist. Oh, and "Lady Strange".

About Kiss, I agree that putting someone else as Ace and Peter was a bad move.

I would really like this tour to reach my country, or Leppard at least.

I'm with Cheap Seats,as I like the old Lep stuff. It's a lot heavier. And I'd throw in Don't Shoot Shotgun from Hysteria....

Been there. Done that. Too many times. Not interested anymore.

I like the Cheap Seats approach though. KISS should do the same thing. First three albums only. After they bring back the real Cat Man and Space Ace, of course.

Leave the catman/spaceman debate for eddie trunks dumb radio program. I am going to 2 shows this summer with my sons and former mentee and I am pumped to do so, as they are excited to see it. I don't even care if any of em wore makeup. That is not even secondary...it's toward the bottom of why I am going.

btw, tickets for tomorrow night's show are drastically reduced for ones that were listed as meet and greets. $1000 tickets are now $100 and $750 tickets are listed for $58; obviously for show only, not with a meet and greet. Therefore, if you're on the fence about going due to the price, you might want to hold off and check for tickets a day or two before the show.

P.S. and if they see a few tits, oh well. They won't be scarred for life. Trust me, kids. But, I will tell them not to glorify that part of rock-n-roll.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...talk about slow to mid tempo. Wow. Don't get me wrong, love some of these songs, but dang fellas, drop a couple of up tempo tracks in there.

Rocket
Animal
Foolin'
Love Bites
Let's Get Rocked
Two Steps Behind
Bringin' on the Heartbreak
Hysteria

At least the Kiss set it still pretty rocking.

They set an attendance record in Salt Lake. I skipped out because I have no desire to see KISS ever. I think it's more of a little league baseball game rather than a rock show judging by the crowd they had. Clean cut yuppies sitting and staring ain't my scene especially when all they know is Pour Some Sugar On Me. My dream Leppard setlist would be anything off the first four records.
High And Dry
Wasted
All of pyromania (my personal favorite)
Hello America
Rock Brigade
No no no
Lady Strange
Love Bites
Animal
Hysteria
Gods Of War
Encore
Pour some sugar on me
Runnin with the devil (cover)

Jakki's setlist is tight. No ballads, no pussy footin around, all just straight up rockers. Honestly I wouldn't change a thing. She nailed it. Kudo's to you Jakki, such a badass set list.

What are you talking about "Runnin' With The Devil (cover)"? Def Leppard have never performed any Van Halen song in their set.
June 26, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterKen
I always thought Stagefright would be a great opening song for Def Leppard

I know they haven't. Just as a fanboy if like to see a Van Halen cover. Just my "dream" setlist.

They could pull it off. Go find Phil Collen's previous band "GIRL", they did a pretty amazing VanHalen-ized version of "You Really Got Me"...

This is the BBC Live Version...

Got all the GIRL LPs, Ace, as does Allyson. Plus, I've got a baby blue vinyl import 45 (with picture sleeve) of, get this, "Hollywood Tease", which I bought upon it's release for $3.99.

As far as set lists go, I like some of the dream lists put forth by a few of my fellow BBG'ers better than what KISS and Def Leppard are currently foisting.

And testament to the majesty of "Photograph" is it's final position on the set list, which, this time around, Def Leppard got right, though I agree, "Two Steps Behind" is lame and it was lame when The Law originally did it!

MetalBoy-I think you mean Miss You in a HeartBeat. The Law originally recorded that one, but was written by Phil and got it's "hit" status with Leppard. But onto the point, I do agree it drags the set down. I've been to 3 of their shows and it's the same old same old. I'm ready for something different. They need to play smaller venues, by themselves or one supporting act, and play a bit over an hour and a half, and throw is some stuff that hasn't been played in awhile. That stuff shouldn't just be limited to the folks who had the money to go to Vegas and see a few shows.
