News Of The Week Roundup: Week 21, 2021
The news of the week was basically a mixed bag of nothing too revolutionary, which is pretty common around a major holiday. The biggest thing for me was the Friends reunion finally happened, thanks to HBO Max. I genuinely had a lot of fun watching the cast back together again.
Of course, The Onion has a hot take:

“Friends: The Reunion” is arriving on HBO Max on Thursday. "This special is the superexpressway of memory lanes," writes @poniewozik. It "is better when it gets out of the cast’s way and shows us what drew us to them, and them to each other." https://t.co/ntQmHyPuZu

A lot of folks (myself included) wanted to get vaccinated to make travel safe and easy again. It seems people have forgotten how to comport themselves with decorum after lockdown and are now acting like literal fools in the friendly skies. People are behaving so badly on planes that both American Airlines and Southwest are not bringing back alcohol onboard until at least mid-September. An unruly nut on a Southwest flight even attacked a flight attendant, knocking out two of her teeth.
American Airlines has joined Southwest Airlines in suspending alcohol services on flights, the airline said. The decision follows a recent assault of a Southwest flight attendant that resulted in a serious injury. https://t.co/BRlAceH0Nz

Another week, more mass shootings in America. I mean, it's sad that it is so hard to keep track. There was a bad one in Florida just overnight.

The Republican party has blocked a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6 insurrection. This is political malpractice. The investigation will likely now happen via a select committee.
BREAKING: Senate Republicans have blocked the creation of a bipartisan panel to study the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. The Senate fell sort of the 60 votes needed to consider a House-passed bill that would have formed a 10-member commission. https://t.co/YtpnjyysBz
