Harsh, But Fair
"I'm disappointed to see Vince the way he is, because I think if he lost some weight and did some training and came out there and was in some semblance of shape, a) his voice will sound better just from that alone, and b) people would go, 'Holy shit! Did you see Vince Neil? He looks great."
Blabbermouth has way more from the interview - click to it below. Chris actually goes on to say a lot of nice things about Vince and gives him some advice on who to approach to get fit. I am pulling for Vince and think he can lose weight if he wants to - but no one can force that on you. It's like any other life change: it has to be made by the individual - and for all the right reasons - to work (and stick).

You would think that he would want to make some changes, if only to feel better about himself. I guess maybe he's in a good place mentally and just doesn't care about anyone else's opinion. Or maybe he's struggling and just can't stand what he's become. He looked so amazing years ago and that must really bother him when he sees old pictures of the way he looked. God, he was beautiful back in the SATD days. And we all know his voice was so much better than as well.
All I know is that I felt like crap when I put on 15 pounds last year. And now it's gone and I feel great. But he needs to want it. Maybe he doesn't.
But he was nice to me years ago so I won't bad mouth him. Good luck to him.
Bk: you squatting like Bobby Rock yet?
This thread is proof positive. Some want to lose some weight. And they do (good for you, Rita). Others poke fun at people in better shape than Neil and that is known to be a trigger for some. So, who gets to say what you should or shouldn't do? Even noting it might be about being more healthy is, well, loaded. So I go with Rita. You need to want to do something to do something. Simple, but difficult. And if you don't? Well, that's on you. And I might comment. But that really doesn't solve anything.
And I gave up on bagging on Neil long ago. I am actually sad that a band I loved is not in tip-top form. Some by choice; others because of genetics. And, yes, age. So you can offer advice. But a person needs to take it. And I say that as I thoughtfully smoke a cig. Go figure?!
It’s similar to what Elvis went through as he would often lose weight before going on tour or filming a TV Special (“‘68 Comeback”), until he eventually gave up. The only difference is, Elvis NEVER lost his voice the way Neil has.
p.s. Jimmy Page apparently had to go back and listen to all his guitar parts on Led Zeppelin albums and practice them intensely before that 2007 one-off London show. And it paid off as his performance was noteworthy.
And Metalboy - my beautiful BFF and I will be on that cruise ship next February come hell or highwater. So yes, I would love to hang out and share a beverage or 2 with you and any other BBG'ers who will be there as well.
That would be a blast.
We should all get on as a way to celebrate our mission to Bring Back Glam! post pandemic, with all the other Rock & Roll Revelars who will be doing the same …
