News Of The Week Roundup: Week 26, 2021

Happy Independence Day, America! July 4th is usually a high mark of summer. I hope you are enjoying the day with family and friends.

Lots of news over the past week.

America's longest war is over. Troops left Afghanistan last week - leaving some in place to guard the embassy and airport. The war lasted so long, most forgot we were even still embroiled in conflict in the region.

Donald Rumsfeld died last week. A big figure in America's involvement in Afghanistan after 9/11.

The Delta variant has made COVID-19 more deadly. Cases are up again in the UK and rising in unvaccinated areas of the United States.

An American Olympic hopeful will most likely be denied at chance at participating in the games because she smoked pot as a way to cope with her mother's death. The drug use happened during the Olympic trials in Oregon where weed is legal.

Apparently a guilty conviction and 60 female accusers wasn't enough - Bill Cosby is out of jail based on a technicality.

The Trump Org and company CFO Allen Weisselberg were indicted on tax fraud charges. Remember, there's no such thing as a free lunch.
