Just A Reminder...

Happy Friday! This is just a reminder that musicians don't make (much) money off streams. Buy merch if you can.
If you don't recall, Bob Pare is a former touring guitarist for KIX. He's also a guitarist for Sun Dogs. Check out some of the comments on Bob's post if you can. There are other musicians posting about their digital revenue (or lack thereof )as well. Remember, all the folks we love don't have deep catalogs of stadium songs or hordes of former top hits.

That said, I think his point was less a 'poor me' plea than an honest response to how artists are treated in these days of streaming everything. Obviously, Pare was joking about that house. What he wasn't joking about is the fact that the product he makes is devalued. See also recent comments from Blackie Lawless on the same topic (even if he is, as always, a bit of a grand-standing doof . . . with a lot of talent).
The problem is, we old timers will buy merch and physical products. That's what we did and do. And some new timers will do that too. But not enough to really sustain things. Then again, when you factor in how much it costs to actually go to a show these days, we are also in a bind. We want to support bands/artists (knowing that the cost of that ticket is 'death by a thousand cuts' when you factor in the venues and corporations that do those cuts to the bands/artists).
One of the more grounded fellows around is Jizzy Pearl (James, you picked a horrible stage name). His videos show the nuts and bolts of what people like him and Pare face. And they did choose this job. They did choose this life. And some of them, now and often then, were also working regular jobs because their passion, even in the good old days, wasn't gonna cover all the bases. Now? Even worse.
I wish Pare all the best. And I wish the same to you, Kixchix. Love that you are still posting!
I'll be giving my M&G's away to lawn folks.
I just hope I brought enough bail money.
I just saw a YouTube short where he’s singing his a*s off!
Also, he’s got a new Love / Hate album, “Punk Rock Fiesta”, hot off the presses!
It is KILLER and so is he!
