'Give Me All Your Love' - Whitesnake, Live Remaster Video

Whitesnake just shared a new video of their classic track "Give Me All Your Love" from the album Access All Areas: Live.
The clip was made from a performance in London back in 2004.
I've seen Whitesnake in concert a couple times (way after 2004) and it is always a good show. This video is a strong representation of what you get at one of their concerts: high energy, good moods and an occasional clunker of a note from singer David Coverdale with no apologies. Dude is 73 and still rocks.

He finally hit pay dirt when the band finally got a nice coat of high-gloss US sheen put on their image and their album Slide It In (in April of '84). Then, of course, the eponymous album in '87. That thing was a major hit and echoed across the world. Coverdale practically oozed Lothario charm with his snarky smile, great pipes, and knowing (as in, "you know you want some") winks.
Thing is, after that, there were diminishing returns as he constantly sought to figure out how to recapture the thing that he captured in the mid-80s. And part of the recipe had been a long-standing policy of getting rid of band members in search of the new "thing." His excuses were legion. So, too, the many gifted artists that floated through the ranks. Granted, his boat. His choices (and the choices of those who decided to ride the Snake for awhile). And I am not slamming him for this. But I will say there is a spectrum with these sorts of acts--from Ozzy to DLR to Alice Cooper--and how well or not so well they treated those that were paid to be employees.
But back to Allyson's initial conclusion (and Kixchix reply). Yes, he is 73. And he _did_ rock. But the last few cycles had him sounding like a tortured cat . . . and then hiring a guy to sweeten the vocals live (and Dino is no slouch). Just saying.
Now he is still nursing the wounds of the road and age. My personal wish? Even if some fans still want new material, I hope he officially retires from the road. There is nothing left to prove. In 2004 you still had parts of "it." Now? Not really sure there is anything to be had out there, save for the jobs you have given a lot of good artists over the years (and those who provide the invisible support tour in and tour out). And that is a compliment.
I still remember how "Still of the Night" captured something special about the soon to disappear reign of metal in the 80s. It played everywhere. It was loved by almost everyone (Page nods be damned until they were embraced when he and Page went full "Cover-version" in 1993). It was such a radically enthusiastic embrace of what the culture wanted at the time . . . and a far cry from the more subdued, and perhaps also just as calculated, musings of White Snake (1977) and Northwinds (1978). Both of which I own and also sorta' enjoy.
I won't ever forget my moments with friends listening to Whitesnake in the 80s. Great times. I am just not interested in trading my nostalgia for blinders when it comes to what he was and now is. And I kinda' think that Coverdale is finally coming to the same conclusion.

I still wish there was some way to get Metalboy!'s dream to happen: a gathering of the BBG! tribe, at a great retro concert, with an after-party. Imagine it. Ace would show up. Some of the other now no-longer-posters as well (seriously, folks, look through the archive of posts from years past). Metalboy!, too, with my gift finally!!! Fletch and his various personas would all sit at one table and talk to each other. Rita would be there (I miss her). I'd finally get to see Eddie's long hair. And Bkallday would finally admit that challenging me to a fight was kinda' weird. But then we would arm wrestle, he would win, and it would all be cool. And at least a couple of the people who used the site to promote their 'stuff' and then left would show up . . . and we would all dump them in a punch bowl of full of fruit juice and Rumple Minze!

My long-winded posts and your spirited responses, Kixchix, are another reason why I love this site, even when I am just reading and not posting (which is clearly not the case currently).
You should join me for lunch today. I going out to lunch with another "kid" I helped when he was a teenage after being repeatedly raped- first in his biological "home", then in his foster "home". He looked me up recently on FB and wants to get together. He thought I was going to rape him, too. Instead (his words), I did things "differently" than what he was accustomed to by adults.
BTW, I saw that your boy, Mb was getting some shrapnel on another local blog. I tried to post and defend her using my real name, but the blogger wouldn't post it. He's a real bottom-feeder blogger.
Love that 1987 “WHITESNAKE” album but I’ll never forgive Coverdale for what he did to John Sykes, who co-wrote and performed on the album, only to have Coverdale ghost him.
But the Coverdale you really gotta appreciate is the version of him in Deep Purple … His bada*sedness is at it’s pinnacle on that live clip in Japan with Tommy Bolin half-adding it on guitar!
Phenomenal!
