STYX Release Video For 'Build & Destroy'

The vocal harmonies and the synths are there - must be STYX! The band just shared a video for their song "Build & Destroy" from their new album Circling From Above. I love how this is a real video with a story and everything... and the point is the band mocking A.I. Like maybe A.I. will be our saviors of everything, but I doubt it and not anytime soon. Good for STYX for calling it out.

The band is on tour now.

どうもありがと Mr. Roboto, anyone? Is this band, putting aside AI, self-aware?

Sure, DeYoung is a pompous goof. But here's the thing: he never hid that he was a diva. And, while it worked, Styx (well, at least two of them) were fine with it. When it didn't work, they found a way to try to excise him from the picture . . . until his corny songs needed to be added back into the mix! Why? Fans liked those songs, even if JY (stands for "Just Yelling") is still a very angry fellow with suspect locks.

Unlike some, I think DeYoung's plea that they go out with him singing makes sense. Gowan is no slouch, granted. But when you have a guy like DeYoung--full head Gremlin aside--singing like he still does, you almost wish they would do it. They are like the Skid Row of poof rock.

And this video? It would be so much better if it was ironic. Don't you think?
