A Bucket List Miss: Donald Fagen Retires From Live Performances

Steely Dan was one of those bands I never got to see live. Now it seems I’ll never see Donald Fagen solo, either.

Fagen has announced his retirement from touring and I get it. He’s still making new music, so that’s something to look forward to, but I always wanted to hear Fagen jam live on stage. He’s 78 and has earned his rest. Steely Dan never liked touring much, anyway.

The Royal Scam is my favorite Steely Dan album (but how can you pick just one?)! Aja changed the face of jazz-rock, period. The duo of the late Walter Bekcer and Donald Fagen is solid. They will be forever remembered for creating some of the most complicated - and enjoyable - popular music of all time. I thank them for it.
