Bon Jovi is the last big band on my bucket list. The band is on Heather’s bucket list, too. This morning, I got us tickets for the show in Chicago at Soldier Field.
I’m pretty pumped, but I’m not excited about hotel costs in Chicago. Like everything else, those are currently inflated. I got tickets in the lower bowl for $320 each, and I am ashamed to say I thought that was “reasonable.”
Well, not so much reasonable as cheaper than the $500 I expected. Sad, isn’t it?
I have my credit cards set to send SMS alerts when purchases are made. The cost of five Bon Jovi tickets did get a reaction from Eric when he saw the charge fly by. He called me while I was at work.
Whatever. I hope Jon’s voice holds out. I’ve been swinging between extremes of wanting to hoard money and wanting to plan out experiences while I am still young enough to enjoy them. And we know these bands we love are only getting older.
This should be a memorable trip for all of us: Heather and I with our bucket lists, two husbands complaining about the heat and the cost of everything, and one 9-year-old who is learning important music lessons early.
