Can You Sing? Know German?
Kissin’ Dynamite is looking for a new singer - and yes, the band is based in Germany.
Seems like more and more established bands are experiencing a rotating wheel of members. Touring is definitely a grind and exhaustion is real. People are more willing to say “enough” when a job just becomes too much. And let’s not forget: while being a pro musician is probably the “funnest” job in the world… it’s still a job.
Current singer Hannes Braun announced this intentions to step back from the mic about four months ago with a lengthy statement - here’s a piece of it:
In 2026 I will play my last shows on the mic with my boys. Or in other words: I will retire from the Rock’n’Roll stage and will no longer be the voice of KD.
After almost 20 years as the singer of the band and over 1,000 shows played all around the globe, this is quite a drastic cut. Probably you feel the same as I do.
I have experienced so much out there on the “road,” pretty much ever since I was still a child. I grew up with it and I owe it a lot in my life.
Together with my boys I have experienced the craziest things out there that would easily fit into five lifetimes. And yet I have not even reached the middle of my life!
But I have to admit something important to myself, something I have been carrying with me for quite a while. Exactly this tour life has, over the years, become something that has taken a big toll on my health. It’s not the 90 minutes on stage, but the constant traveling, the lack of sleep, the pressure and the stress of everyday touring that consume me. At some point in life, you just have to do the “right” thing to protect yourself and your health. And I have now come to that realization. And I am grateful to myself for it.
In recent years, when it came to touring with the band, I felt more and more like a brake. I wanted less, but that just doesn’t go together with our plan to go “upwards.” So here I let go, not only for self-protection, but also out of love.
Because I love this band. It means so much more to me than just playing live. For me, it means true and unconditional friendship. Unity. Support. Family. For some this may sound paradoxical, and some who cannot or do not want to understand me may say: “Why is he letting his friends down?”
But it’s actually the exact opposite.
So, I am stepping down as singer because I wish that together we can head towards an even more beautiful future.
I will remain the songwriter, the producer and, if you will, the captain of our ship. With full focus on these roles and with a new, motivated person at the mic, I see a truly bright horizon ahead. We wouldn’t be the first band to pull off this feat.
