‘Givin’ Yourself Away’
Is RATT’s “Givin’ Yourself Away” the best example of Warren DeMartini’s guitar work? I think it might be. There’s no question in my mind that it’s the best showcase of DeMartini and Robbin Crosby tandem guitar work available.
The criminally underrated song is on Detonator. This is the last album to feature Crosby and bass player Jaun Croucier together. Crosby died in 2002.
It’s easily a top-five RATT tune. Desmond Child and Diane Warren really hit it out of the park with this one (and Pearcy has a songwriting credit too!) RATT never did ballads, but “Givin’ Yourself Away” is the notable exception.
The awesome guitar work starts around the 3:15 mark.
Why did this track fly under the radar?
