Jon Bon Jovi Gets Walk of Fame Nod

Jon Bon Jovi will be the inaugural inductee to the Count Basie Center for the Arts Walk of Fame. The center is located in Red Bank, New Jersey and thus it makes sense why Jon would get the nod. He really does tons of philanthropic work and is obviously a massive music star. Pilgrims will make their way to the Walk just to see Jon Bon Jovi’s name.

Legendary jazz man Count Basie was of course born in Red Bank. He formed the Count Basie Orchestra in 1935 and performed live for most of his life. In his later years, he had a home in Freeport, Bahamas. In his honor there is a Count Basie Square Bandstand of which I have visited. The square hosts free jazz concerts under the stars. It’s not too far from the Grand Lucayan (previously Our Lucaya) resort which is where I stayed a million years ago when visiting.
