Never Change, Nikki

So drummer Shannon Larkin - previously of Godsmack - did an interview a few days ago and he was talking about bands using backing tracks, click tracks, that sort of thing. In a sort of throwaway comment, Larkin happened to say Nikki Sixx uses backing tapes.

Well, Nikki has gone online to respond.

Godsmack opened for Motley Crue in 2009 as part of Crue Fest 2, so Nikki definitely knows Shannon Larkin. Is Godsmack a B or C level band? I don’t know. I think they’ve probably sold way too many albums to be considered less than B-tier. Anyway, I digress. The Motley vs. Godsmack feud is apparently back on to some degree. This time, Larkin isn’t even in the band! He quit Godsmack amicably in 2024 because he wanted to retire from touring.

So here we are. Motley is hitting the road in about two seconds. I guess we’ll have new videos to watch and dissect regarding the never-ending backing tape allegations.

Also, Sonic Temple festival dates were announced for May 13 - 16, 2027. I mention this just to say I hope Godsmack isn’t booked. They have headlined in the past… and so has Motley Crue.
