Rattlesnake Shake...Circa 1989

Hearing the B-sides from Dr. Feelgood last night made me want to post those video clips with my review. At this writing, no clips are available, so I'll wait until tomorrow to post my Crue Fest wrap. The Motley stage set up is very cool and I think it's something you should really see to appreciate. Oh yea, the boys have a modern version of the Nasty Habits, too!

Way back on the actual Dr. Feelgood tour, Motley chose B-sides to play every once in awhile, selecting different songs as the tour made its way around the world. Here's a very cherry clip of Motley doing "Rattlesnake Shake" circa 1989. I hope someone caught last night's version on video so I can post later to compare! Security was being crazy militant about cameras and video - I watched as people were thrown out and I wasn't about to be one of them.

Crue Fest 2 - Tonight!

10 bands + me and a sequin skirt = Crue Fest 2 Las Vegas. I'm pretty excited because I always like to see shows in new venues and this will be my first concert at the Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas. I think the smaller venue is going to make the show more memorable. I'm also really excited about seeing some bands I've never seen before, especially Godsmack.

I guess "White Trash Circus" is the de facto Crue Fest anthem. Motley had the lead singers of this year's Crue Fest lineup sing back-up on the track. Check out the video below. Reviews to follow.

A7X Does GnR 09 Style

Warning: the following clip may blow your face off. Avenged Sevenfold + Slash = Metal heaven. The video was made in Los Angeles earlier this year. I wish I was in the crowd when Slash walked on stage! I think you'll agree M. Shadows does Axl Rose proud with this rendition of "It's So Easy."

Scratch Steel Panther

Steel Panther just canceled their Las Vegas shows for this weekend. They are going to Japan instead. What a bummer for me - but good news for our Japanese friends. I've noticed Steel Panther getting a lot of bookings here lately - especially in some more obscure locales. Could a full fledged headlining world tour be far behind? We can only hope!

Ask Chad Cherry...Anything!

If you like The Last Vegas, this might be for you! Just received this in my email and I thought I would share:

The Last Vegas is giving fans a chance to ask questions... about anything. Suggested topics are Sex, Love, Drugs and Rock & Roll, but the boys don't really care, that's why the show is called "Whatever Gets You Off." This new web series will feature The Last Vegas lead singer, Chad Cherry answering questions from fans on a weekly basis.

To get started, we need questions! Send questions to AskChad@TheLastVegas.com.

If your question is selected, Chad Cherry will answer the question in an Internet video for the whole world to see. It's like a mix of Dear Abby and that annoying guy who got famous by crying because everyone was making fun of Britney Spears.

Speaking of Vegas...I'm en route there today. So, my post times may be a little crazy while I'm on holiday. Remember, I'm catching Steel Panther, Crue Fest and maybe something else  - so there will plenty of reviews in the days ahead.

Win a Pair of Tickets to See Z02 Live in Cincinnati!

Like Z02?

The name might be familiar. After all, the New York rockers have opened for some of our favorite bands, including Poison.

Z02 just released a new album Casino Logic. The band members also star in a TV series about their "life" on the IFC network called Z Rock.

Z02 will play Cincinnati's (Ohio) Riverstar Entertainment Complex with 8Kount, Session9 and Chaotic Existence. The show is on Sunday, August 9th. Tickets are $7 advance or $10 day of show - but you and a friend can go for free!

Just email me at allyson@bringbackglam.com and put "Z02 Show" in the subject line. Email me by Wednesday, July 29 at 11:59 pm ET. Please provide your legal name and mailing address in the entry. Incomplete entries will be discarded! I'll drop the winning tickets in the mail and you'll receive them in plenty of time to rock with me at the show!

Here's the video for "Isolate." Tell me this isn't a hotter than hell track!

Kick?

Ever get on a "kick?"

Recently, I've been listening to a ton of Michael Jackson (for obvious reasons). I'll also go through spurts where I will only listen to Kix or Slipknot or whatever band has my attention at the moment.

Sometimes the "kicks" are prompted by crazy media coverage, as in the case with Jackson. Hearing his music on the news constantly got me interested in him again. Then I decided to read a book (or five) about him as well. It's been all MJ all the time at my house the past couple of weeks (ok, month).

Whenever I get ready for a big show, I'll get on a kick. I have Steel Panther and Crue Fest at the end of this week, so I've been listening to all the bands involved. Before Rocklahoma I listened to way more Saxon than normal...and before Rock on the Range, it was all Alice in Chains, all the time.

Sometimes I find the kicks to be..."comforting." There are days when it is honestly too much to scroll through my iPod and find something I haven't listened to in awhile. And forget about reviewing new bands! On those super exhaustion days, I'll just listen to the same thing as the previous seven days and be content. I am not sure if anyone else does this - but it's definitely part of my DNA to listen to the same album over and over. I mean, how else will I learn every word to every song?

Agreeance?
