Mista Bone

Holy crap!

How did I not know that Great White made a video for "Mista Bone?" Of the entire Great White catalog..."Mista Bone" is my favorite. Yes, it even trumps "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" which I also really love.

"Mista Bone" has a damn good bass line. It proves how cool you can sound - and look - while playing open E.

Great White is coming to Cincinnati next Friday night. Since it's so close to the Motley Cruise, I probably won't be able to attend...but I guarantee if you go, you'll hear "Mista Bone."

The song is so great because it's simple. Everyone knows that Great White is a blues-based band, and "Mista Bone" stays completely true to that form. Jack Russell's voice has a perfect whine that supports the sensuality of the lyrics.

Here's my question: if this was an officially released video, why can't I find a clip on YouTube that features artist credit?

Allyson, there's an official DVD of clips which is not complete, but has Mista Bone on it. Sorry, my copy is many miles away, so I can't check the title for you.

It lost my comment ?

There's an official DVD of clips, which is not complete, and has a dumb name, but this one is on it.

At least 'Mista Bone' was an original song, and a good one at that! 'Once Bitten, Twice Shy' was a cover. Nothing worse than using a cover song to get major success, at least Ian Hunter got some money for it.

I would agree to a point. I love Great White, but I don't really like their cover of 'Once Bitten' that much. It was their manager who pushed the album titles 'once bitten' and 'twice shy', and then this cover version, onto them. I don't know if they objected especially, but it was not their idea. I'd much prefer to listen to Desert Moon or Old Rose Motel.

Christian.....

Most of the time I am a devout hater of covers, I can never understand why a band would release a cover over an orignal, manager or not. I skip this song everytime.

The usual answer is that someone pressures them into doing a song that is already a known hit. Sometimes, they just like the song. Who knows ?
