The Worst Albums of 2008

Next weekend I'll post my picks for "the best of 2008."

The list below represents what I consider crap. No, it's not ten, but these are top of mind and what I just don't like despite the hype, Rolling Stone coverage...and your comments.

Metallica - Death Magnetic

Nowhere near as good as Chinese Democracy. Deal with it.

Linkin Park - Live from SoHo

I generally just hate this band and all their music.

White Lion - Return of the Pride

  Horrible songs and bad production.

Dokken - Lightning Strikes Again

 See above.

Def Leppard - Songs from the Sparkle Lounge

Hinder - Take It To the Limit

I couldn't pick a single "worst" album if I had to because both the Hinder and Def Leppard discs are just so equally bad. Actually, if someone was pointing a can of hairspray at my head and threatened to spray, I'd probably pick  Songs from the Sparkle Lounge as the absolute worst. I tried to like the album. I gave it a chance. I didn't give it a horrible review because I was sure the disc would grow on me. Hearing the new songs live only further proved how much I detest Songs from the Sparkle Lounge. When you get right down to it the album is just plain...sucky.  No, I didn't expect Def Leppard to recreate Pyromania...but I didn't expect to be wishing for a refund after I purchased the new album either. Woof! What a dog.

HINDER FUCKING RULES, MAN!!!
I SO CAN'T BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE ISN'T WEARING A HINDER TEE SHIRT RIGHT NOW!

Oh, wow. Sorry, everybody... For a minute there I couldn't wake up from this horrible nightmare I was having... I thought that typing in caps and swinging from Hinder's nuts showed how cool I was - in a very non-conformist way, ofcourse...

Whoa! Was that sarcasm?!?

Remind me to tell you about this other dream I had where I couldn't use punctuation or spell correctly... and my grammar was incredibly bad...

shudder...

Holy crap, Allyson grows a pair...and she's pissed! Look out.

By the way Fitz, Motley Crue's Album, SOLA, is their best to date. Staying true despite all the nay-sayers and throwing a "fuck you" in the process to those that could (or just want to) destroy you takes a pair.

Motley Crue should of been on this list. SOLA is a joke.

It wasn't the best album Def Leppard have released by any stretch of the imagination, but 'Songs from the Sparkle Lounge' certainly deserves a little more credit than worst of the worst. I admit that the 5 or so reasonably strong tracks seemed to become swamped in amongst some average filler tracks, but the disc as a whole is worth the money. 'Chinese Democracy', however, does beg the question: 'Was it REALLY worth the wait?'. The hype certainly outshone the product, and it is, at least for me, the greatest musical disappointment of the last 12 months.
