Giant: Underrated Band

giant.jpg

Do you remember the band Giant? Their most successful album is Last of the Runaways. I was listening to the single "I'm a Believer" last night while driving home.

Giant was a great band of true musicians. In fact, I wish they were still together today. When I say "true" musicians - I am not exaggerating. The quartet was not your average band of long-haired dreamers. No, these were seasoned session men. Most played with very famous bands. It's natural they wanted their share of the limelight.

Dann Huff sang and played guitar while Mike Brigadello played bass and David Huff played drums. Like any good AOR band, the group had a keyboard player. That person was Alan Pasqua. Giant landed a deal with A&M and then recorded Last of the Runaways in 1989.

I think the band got back together not so long ago - but that didn't last too long. Still, I think it would be cool to hear Dann Huff perform live. That man can sing!

Here is the video for "I'm a Believer."

Now, watch this clip of "Innocent Days."

Tell me: were you lucky enough to see Giant perform live? If so, where and when?

I agree Giant were very underrated..love the singers voice too..The song "I'll see you in my dreams" is one of the best power love ballads too..I heard they reunited too.

I love Giant...Dan Huff has a really good voice.
My absolute favorite song by them is, "Innocent Days"! By the way, they released a second album in '92 called, "Time To Burn"...that's a great one, too.

great band, I saw them in Birmingham,UK in March 1990 at a tiny club. I was right at the front of the stage and have a couple of guitar picks as souvenirs! They also have a Giant 3 CD which came out around 2002.

I prefer TIME TO BURN. Giant is a definitely a forgotten AOR gem.....check Dan Huff's credits because he has written many tunes for many people.

I have all 3 of Giant's Albums and the little EPS.I have been a big fan since 1989...They are probably one of the most talented underated bands of all time....The newest album made in 2001 titled Giant III. It seems like they didn't miss a beat from Last of the Runaways or Time to Burn albums.. I wish the HUFF brothers/Gia will put out another album and go on tour. Because the past three are hands down amazing. Giant is surely missed in the music world..So Dann and David please come out of hiding...

Your 'dad waz a back up gutar player for gint". Maybe he should have stayed at home and schooled you better in how to write a coherent sentence and to improve your spelling!

Yeah, saw them home in Stockholm Sweden in '89-90 or so. Anyway, in a too small club than they deserved.
Personally I prefer the "Last of the runaways"

I saw them open for Bad English Vivian Campbell at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in 89. Awesome show. Dan Huff is a great player and highly under rated!!!

Giant were awesome Dann Huff was one of my biggest influences and a awesome singer songwriter musician, long may he be an inspiration to future musicians and live on in his music.

I created a "Giant" radio station on Pandora. I haven't heard a song I disliked yet!

Regarding Don's post "I created a "Giant" radio station on Pandora. I haven't heard a song I disliked yet!", I also created a 'Giant' station on Pandora before I saw his post (Twilight Zone theme music)~~~~~. Plays NightRanger, Journey, Strangeways (Terry Brock From Giant III) ETC. Pretty cool!!
