Start Me Right in 2009

Happy new year and welcome to 2009!
Like the title of this article says, get me started right in 2009. I have $35 sitting in my iTunes account, just ready for me to spend. What should I buy? (And yes, I already own the new Shinedown. I know some of you have mentioned that disc over the past few days – rest assured, I have it on my iPod already).
Remember, if it’s classic Glam, there’s a 99% chance I already own it – so I’m looking for either newer bands or the obscure. Something I can really enjoy over my next few days off from work.
Please don’t suggest Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Poison, Alice Cooper, Van Halen or Def Leppard – I’ve already got it!
I want some really heavy Metal, too. You know, for those rage-filled days.
I thought a new year would be the perfect time to start with some new bands I don’t already know. This is a resolution to rock to some new guys (and gals!)
I have other resolutions too – all of which should be broken by January 3 at the latest. Care to share resolutions? Mine are to work less, spend less money on music (and since the $35 was gifted it doesn’t count!) and to relax more.
We’ll see how I do.

Poets Of The Fall, the singer has a unbelievable voice (Lift, Merry Go Round - no it's not a Motley cover, Locking Up The Sun, Carnival Of Rust and Late Goodbye
Last but not least Peer Günt ( I Don't Wanna Be A Rock N' Roll Star, Bartender, Backseat or Bad Boys Are Here)
Have a wonderful New Year 2009, this blog kicks ass =)
I'd like to throw in H.e.a.t. as well. They released one of the best debut albums of all time. I'm gonna see them live in Paris next week. So looking forward to it.
Some none glam for you to check out:
If you like to listen to some progressive music, I'd recommend the releases of Ayreon. Every album is a real piece of art. A gem to be treasured.
Another amazing band/project is Tobias Sammet's Avantasia. Check out the album "The Scarecrow". Many guest musicians are involved. Even Alice Cooper sings on one song. Eric Singer plays drums on the album.
If you want to check out some traditional Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal try Ross The Boss. The album "New Metal Leader" is very very good. Also German hard rockers Sinner and their album "Crash & Burn". It's their best album in 20 years and on my Top 10 list for 2008.
Hmm, my compratriot from Finland suggested Hanoi Rocks - well, you must know them. Poets Of the Fall then again sucks. But, if Finnish music is interesting (to me it's not), I would say listen to Brother Firetribe.
The Darkness descentands Stone Gods and Hot Leg are always a nice choice.
Me myself have been listening to a lot of Fall Out Boy and Plain White T's lately - FOB's newest Folie À Deux totally kicks ass and Plain White T's' All That We Needed is awesome.
Then finally, to skip the whole scene, I like BrokeNCYDE. Their songs, like Freaxxx and 2Drunk 2Drive are funny and catchy.
Well, that's about it. Have a glamorous year!
The Angels - No Exit
Annihilator - Metal
Russian emocoreband Origami: Без лисхних слов ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLL73OkWsf4 )
Happy new year!
For some great melodic & Heavy metal, try anything by Circle II Circle. Also, check out Chris Caffery, especially the song "Pisses Me Off"
Take It to The Limit in 2009!
I recomend the latests album of Backyard Babies, a real gem, and then some great new groups like Baby Jean, Sister, Innocent Rosie.
In the dark side, Death Stars will realise their new album in few days, the first single is already out and its a blast(and they have so much glam on their music and looks) !!
Cheers
I'm going to suggest Escape The Fate. They're one of my favorite bands, especially of the modern rock acts, and they're first cd Dying Is Your Latest Fashion is good, and a few songs of their new cd This War Is Ours are good as well. They have two different singers on each cd, and I think the first cd is better than the second. Situations is a classic song, and the video even has Destiny from Rock of Love in it, lol.
And i forgot to mention Stone Gods, I'm With The Band is in my top 10 of greatest songs of 2008
Thinking of other european bands, Shotgun Mesiah (not sure how big they were in the states) The Quireboys & Dogs D'amour (who along with the wildhearts had interchangable members!!!)
Finally, Heavens Basement (currently unsigned, but have released stuff under the names 'Roadstar' and 'Hurricane Party'), currently supporting Thunder around Europe, another good UK act (first 2 releases especially)
THAT WOULD RULE
