Tommy Lee's New Project is Genius

By now you may have heard that Tommy Lee is working on a new Methods of Mayhem record. The cool thing is that Tommy is asking any of us with any musical ability to contribute. Last night I spoke with Tommy about the The Public Record, a "contest" of sorts where you can add your music to the next Methods CD.

The marketing tag, "The first large-scale, truly interactive recording process" is accurate. My conversation with Tommy will post Monday on Noisecreep and I hope you all go there to read about it - and I sincerely hope those of you who are musically inclined will participate in this.

For eleven weeks, you can add your voice, beats, riffs, or whatever to "song skeletons" sketched out by Tommy. The best of the best will  be used - and then will be released during February 2010 via RoadRunner.

Absolutely a cool idea.Everybody comes out a winner, including Tommy, who is basically having the public compose an entire record for him.(Wonder if he'll split the profits??) Kudo's Tommy!

tommy lee is a rock god and a drummer from hell. If you have any idea about rhythm and drums you will know rap and r&b go hand in hand (hence the name) its all about the beats and T-bone rocks that shit If you do more research and be less presumptive you'd find that this aint gonna involve rap at all, Hater

Fitz aint shit but a whiny bitch. and as for you Kenny Ozz. tommy lee and genius in the same sentence, been used more than once. go look at the input and songs he wrote for the crue, some of the best tracks on Dr Feelgood were written or co written by him. if you don't like the guy than why cant you stop talking bout him...bored little bitch. get a hobby or masturbate some more whilst your on your pc instead of rubbishing all day. ALL THE BEST TOMMY, I KNOW ITS GONNA BLOW THESE HATERS AWAY. and thanks for your inspiration. peace out

I think this is a really cool idea. However, I feel that the only reason T-Bone is doing this is because it's obvious that everything else he did outside of Motley SUCKED ASS! Just like everything else that Vince Neil did outside of Motley SUCKED ASS! So why don't all you degenerate fuckin' cocks out there do me a favor and SUCK MY ASS! Thank you ;)

As a participant, I have to say that this was an incredible musical experience. We are now on the final bonus tracks. There is going to be a very wide range of musical styles on this album. From screaming metal with The Fight Song to slowed down ballds like Blame. For anyone who still wants to take a crack at it there are new artists who are coming on board. Visit www.thepublicrecord.com and check it out. It's not just about Tommy Lee.
