Fly to the Angels: Acoustic vs. Electric

Slaughter's "Fly to the Angels" might just be one of the ten best Glam tunes - period. Of course, the song was originally released electric...and was then covered acoustic. I can honestly say I don't know which version I like better - and that's a rarity. Mostly I like all my Glam electric - but this song is so good and suits Mark Slaughter's voice so well...either version just works.

Here's the acoustic version.

Here's the original.

Mark and Dana Strum are so cute in both clips. I love it!

Well, which is better?

I like the electric version better, but both are really good...to bad Mark can't sing anymore!

I always liked the unplugged version better, mostly because it was a bit of a departure from the very formulaic power ballad (unplugged opening verse, heavy chorus, second verse with drums now introduced, heavy chorus, guitar solo, heavy chorus, unplugged ending) that ruled the airwaves at the time.

For the same reason, I'm also a big fan of the unplugged version of I Remember You that Skid Row has on their 'Oh Say Can You Scream' DVD.
