Gypsy Pistoleros Ready to Release New Album

My friend Lee Pistolero of the Gypsy Pistoleros dropped me a line over the weekend. It seems the band has a lot of exciting projects in the works, including a new CD and DVD. Here's the goods:

The World’s Greatest Flamenco Glam Punk Rumba Rock n Roll Gypsy Kings GYPSY PISTOLEROS have finished recording the mini album Hotel de la Muerte. Produced once more by the legendary and eccentric Joe Gibb (Catatonia, Funeral for a friend, Janes Addiction, The Kinks ,etc.) in Mighty Atom Studios (Wales).

Artist extraordinaire Jo Burgon – Candy Machine Art (Metallica, Led Zeppelin, L.A Guns, Wednesday 13, Metallica, etc.) has designed and illustrated the new album and T-shirt designin a Priest, Hellsing, From Dawn to Dusk, El Mariachi style!!!

Tracks are “Living Down with the Gypsies,”“Walk Through the Shadows,” “Sangre de las Rosas,”“Welcome to the Hotel de la Muerte,” “Son Illusiones.”

The new album Hotel de la Muerte is out October 12th on Bad Reputation Records, accompanied by the triumphant live DVD at Rocklahoma 2009: Ten live tracks will be featured. Gypsy Pistoleros are: Lee Pistolero (vocals), Iggie Pistolero (guitar), Denny Pistolero (drums), Jet Pistolero (bass).

They rock, unless you love dirge metal.

Gypsy Pistoleros are a thrill-a-minute collection of melodic eye-patch swagger that smells of exotic spices and forbidden concubines. The Gypsy Pistoleros sound like Hanoi Rocks, if Hanoi Rocks were sultans and snakecharmers.- Sleazegrinder -Classic Rock

I used to have a ton of respect for the Gypsy Pistoleros... but now I don't know what to think. They've been threatening their fans and deleting people on MySpace, I can never keep up with who is or isn't in the band (like Scotty, the drummer from ROK '08, or Nasty, who is the sweetest guy ever - both are gone. I never understood what happened to Leeroy, Angel, or Ace Finchum either.), and Lee is not as nice as I thought he was. I stood around with my now ex-friend for awhile after the Pistoleros' set at ROK '08, waiting to meet Lee. Scotty came around, was a total sweetheart, and I loved talking to him. Lee came around but only talked to the girl I was with (she was wearing skimpy clothes, I wasn't [I had a Pistoleros shirt on], hmm. I called out his name as he started to walk away, but he only glanced back at me and continued to leave. Seriously messed up. Had I not basically "waited to be ignored by Lee", I would've been able to meet Nasty.

As much as I still want to be out there promoting the Pistoleros, I don't know if I should, if this is how they treat people.

It made me happy to find out that Nasty is still around in S.E.X. Department, though. He's a great dude, like I said.

Excuse me? Whether or not there is YouTube footage from ROK 08 after the Pistoleros came offstage is not my point. What I stated was that you ignored me when I yelled (in a nice way!) "Lee! Lee!" a couple times, after you'd taken a photo with the person I came to ROK 08 with. I know you heard me, because as you were walking away you turned around and looked straight at me. Maybe I should've tried to get your attention again, or followed you, but I was trying to be a polite fan. (Besides, it was late, I was exhausted, and I had an hour's drive to get back to my hotel in Tulsa, in the dark with my ex-friend's shitty car.)

I have absolutely NO reason to lie, and I really don't appreciate being accused of doing so. I'll contact you on MySpace with the rest of my response.

Bonnie I was the one taking the video. Lee and the rest of the guys tried to talk to everyone but had to do several interviews right after their set. That was part of their contract. I he didn't get a chance to have a one on one with you that is the reason. All of the Pistoleros stayed out with the crowd most of the time they were there. I know because I have plenty of footage of the entire fest. Sorry if you had a bad experience but the guys are the most friendly people I have ever met. I am going to England in October to film their first tour in 2 years. Send me your address and I will do my best to get you an autographed cd from the guys.
