New Band: Taking Dawn

Taking Dawn is a new band out of Las Vegas on the RoadRunner Records label. I just interviewed lead singer/guitarist Chris Babbitt for Noisecreep and he is a very funny guy. I wasn't expecting Taking Dawn to sound like some of our favorites - but they do. Babbitt is okay with all that as long as you don't call his band "Glam." I argued with him just a little and Babbitt did admit to loving Bon Jovi, Guns n' Roses and Motley Crue. In short, he likes the bands with the awesome guitars and big choruses -- and that's exactly what you get with Taking Dawn. Some of the songs on the band's debut Time to Burn sound 80s and others sound truly modern. It's an interesting mix of music that works and yes, all the songs flow on the debut.

"Like a Revolution:"

I think my favorite song on the debut is "Endlessly." Taking Dawn is about to hit the road with Theory of a Deadman, Halestorm and Adelita's Way.

Checked them out over the weekend actually. They seemed like a band I'd like from the description I read, but nope didn't work for me at all - music was pretty generic, and vox were average.

I also thought the amount of times and way they threw "fuck" into Time To Burn was kind of lame and gimmicky (have no problem with the word itself).

Great band; been following these guys for a while before they changed their name and these songs while being great are different from their earlier works which are just great; point is don't think that these songs define the band at all!
