NASCAR Goes Glam...Sort Of

This is insanity.

SPEED network created some crazy video with NASCAR drivers...set to Mr. Big's "To Be With You." The drivers look, well, uncomfortable. Or maybe they just look stupid. At any rate, Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle and Kurt Busch have no rhythm. Also, I'm pretty sure that none of the drivers has ever heard of Mr. Big, let alone this particular song. At any rate, watch this. It's definitely cringe-worthy.

sad sad sad - i'm not sure that could have been any worse...if they were gonna suck so bad, they could have at least made it funny...of course, it becomes obvious why they drive and not sing

Hey, Kyle Petty (The old guy with the pony tail and hat) was actually playing the correct chords to the song!! Lol I actually laughed pretty hard at that it was so awful (as I think it was actually meant to be)

ROCK ON KYLE PETTY!!! I'm surprised he's still the sport as he hasn't really been a factor for a while. But yeah GAH! with the lip syncing. Go idea but not executed properly at all.

The only thing more boring than this video is the "sport" itself.

Remember when Nascar raced real cars. Remember Richard Petty? If not, Google away, boys! And check out that Superbird! Number 43! Suweeeeeeetttt!!!

Hey, and to just add insult to injury. Seriously, Mr. Big? Man duz this song sukk and so did they (Okay, I'll throw ya "Addicted To That Rush". That roxx b*lls! but that's it for them) and I unfortunately have all of their albums.

I also have the dubious achievement of having seen them perform this live back in the day at The Cat Club in NYC. It was brutal. These guys were the biggest bore until they played "Addicted To That Rush" which stopped the place dead.

I remember the place was packed and wandering aimlessly through the crowd (heading back to the bar, no doubt) and on my way there, running into (literally) Ace Frehley, who was 10 times more wasted than me, being held up as he walked by two big oafs.

Then on my way back, I ran into Paul Stanley. These guys, by the way, didn't even acknowledge each other or even the fact that they were in the same room.

Later, on another trip back to the bar, I ran into Ahmet Ertegun! Everyone was sort of mindlessly roaming through the place. It was a kind of weird vibe as most people weren't really paying attention to Mr. Big. Until, like I said, they cranked "Addicted To That Rush". That stopped everyone dead in their tracks!

I can claim a real dubious achievement... A trifecta of horrors if you will...

I actually witnessed "To Be With You" performed live by Mr. Big, "More Than Words" by Extreme and "Love Is On The Way" by Saigon Kick all at the Cat Club back then. Argh! Those songs sukk and thoze bands sukk. I even had beers with the clownz from Extreme (tho I always though Bettencourt should have split for cooler waters) after their gig as my long ago X new them, all the while thinking to myself how horrible they were.

I have all three of those tunes actually back to back on my iTunes Playlist, "Love Roxx" but I gotta tell ya, I'm always cautious to skip over 'em...

Back on NASCAR... Why can't someone start a REAL Racing Series where they would use real cars like the new Challenger, Camaro and Mustang as the vehicles?! Those glorified NASCAR Monte Carlos or whatever the hell it is are so BORING to watch... Just like this video!

p.s. Only the Shad Knows! Actually, you are right, Kid! A big problem with this beyond the song is that it's executed poorly. It could be done a lot better. They should intercut some fireballs crashing down the raceway juxtaposed to the boring black and white footage of these jokers strumming away, hahaha!!!

The best Nacar races and the ones that are neat to watch are the rooad courses like watkins glen and the old Sears point track. Safety regulations are the reason the cars hve been toned down in recent years especially after Earnhardt's crash. Still rooting for my man number six or 1 now i think they change sponsors too much now, anyway, go Mark Martin!!! shameless plug 1

I understand them toning down the cars but do they all have to look like the same Monte Carlo? Google NASCAR in the 70's. There's gotta be a way to inject a little more individuality and visual excitement back into the cars.

Remember not too long ago when Allyson featured Buckcherry doin' the theme song for NASCAR, a new take on Deep Purple's "Highway Star"?

Man, they really jumped the track with this "Mr. Big" thing. Where is the Rock'n'Roll that used to be synonymous with this "sport"?
