Lita Ford and Paul Stanley Perform 'Lick It Up'

I was gone for so many days to Florida and then on ShipRocked that I feel like I was in a time warp. I'm desperately trying to catch up on my music news. I was scanning Noisecreep and came across a cool clip of Paul Stanley and Lita Ford performing "Lick It Up." The song was part of a rehearsal for Rock n' Roll Fantasy Camp.

Oh and here's a random: I saw a guy on ShipRocked wearing a Lita Ford shirt while watching In This Moment. Truth.

Dude who is singing(?) is quite possibly the WORST singer I have ever heard. I think William Hung would have sang that better.

I assumed they were practising for when they have to play with someone who paid for the chance to sing with them, but plainly cannot do it.

fuck em...their having the time of their lives and they paid big bucks for the moment,...let them enjoy it...them Rock Camps aint cheap by the way,...I'm pretty sure everyone that is playing paid to be there except Stanley and Ford,...I certainly dont recognize anybody.

Todd, you are correct. The people are just students. Average folks spending some dough to live out a dream. I think it is cool.

DGeneration is still playing? Cool, hopefully there is some new material on the way. Unless there was something I missed.
I think it is great that someone as big as Paul is doing these. I know he is getting paid, but still. The singer was horrible but only made worse by his jazz hands. Jealous as hell of him though.

Used to party like h*ll with the D-Generation Boyz early into the morning in the basement of a nightclub called Coney Island High on St. Mark's Place in NYC on the nights they hosted their "Green Door" parties in the mid-nineties.

Jessie and Howie were so cool. I'll never forget the first night I was hangin' out with 'em and they didn't no me from Adam but were so cool. There was only a baker's dozen of us left by the time 5:30 A.M. rolled around.

I remember goin' up to the chick DJ and requesting Cheap Trick's cover of The Move's "California Man" from Trick's classic album, 'Heaven Tonight', and, not only did she have the 45, she played it!

We all danced our as*es off for hours after that to everything from AC/DC to Zeppelin, Jesse perched on a barstool, laffin' like a madman, especially during my air guitar impression of Jimmy Page when the DJ popped on "D'yer Mak'er".

By the time I left, it was 10:30 A.M., so it was a good thing I had my chrome aviators on me as I hit the street, all drenched in sweat, my heart pumped full of adrenalin. And the only drug I was
on was Rock and Roll.

Gotta hand it to D-Generation. I saw 'em everywhere in NYC in the couple years before they got signed. They single handedly carried the torch for Rock'n'Roll through the mid to late nineties with their own high octane brand of Glam Metal-ish Punk until Buckcherry hit with "Lit"., whichmkinda flipped the formula to Punk-ish Glam Metal and, well, here we are.

As far as R'n'R Bootcamp goes, I'm all for it, 'cept I'd probably freeze up in the shadows of all my idols like Stanley and Ford if it was me up on stage with 'em!

And regarding G'n'R canceling, why duz this not surprise me? Seein' Axl interviewed on "That Metal Show" plus the exclusive live footage they shot in Miami and Orlando (dang, I'm cry in' I missed it), one might observe that Axl just seems a little anemic. Don't get me wrong, he totally knocked himself out on stage for 3 hours both shows. It's just that he seems congested
in both interview and performance.

Hope he's okay. I'm tellin' ya, cuz Izzy, Steven AND, perhaps, most importantly, Duff have all periodically joined him onstage over the last coupla years, leads me to believe they will be able to facilitate a reunion between Slash and Axl, particularly Duff, because of his relationship with Slash thru their gig in Velvet Revolver, in time for their performance after their induction into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

p.s. Yeah, but Christian, it's not ALL Paul's song. He shares co-songwriter's credit with none other than the generally unheralded Vinnie Vincent, who is the main reason they didn't need any outside writers to help them on the album.

Look up "Lick It Up" on Wikipedia. If what is said their is true, I am really cryin' I missed that L.A. Forum show in January of '84 when Vincent was tacking on 8 to 10 minute leads onto songs throughout the set, leaving the rest of the band standing around waiting for him to finish.

I bet that show and others with Vincent were amazing!

If what we read on Wikipedia is true, Stanley couldn't stand being shown up by Vincent, hahaha!!! Now, that, people, is Rock AND Roll!

Jimbo! Was she the bartendress who looked like the "6th Runaway" and had her own band? I saw her open for a friend of mine's band, Bikini Contest, in like 1996 at LIFE in the West Village.

Or was she the cool DJ playin' all the Cheap Trick for me downstairs that night.

I knew Danny! Got drunk with him and Howie at CBGB one night. My girlfriend at the time met Danny before they got signed when he worked at a prop house and she was a stylist for a photographer. He gave us Back Stage passes for one of their gigs -- I think it might have either been Hammerstein Ballroom or Roseland.

D-Generation. Helluva band.

What was your band's name, Jimbo?

p.s. Did you see any of the bands playin' the Cat Club before that? I saw most of the bands we talk about on this site at the Cat Club from 1988 thru 1992.

yeah it was a great experience , wasn't familiar with the kiss song just learned about 5 mins before Paul walked in and video crew ready or not we played Paul liked it seeing how he couldn't sing at all throat surgery 2 weeks prior ! was a blast ...that band brought down the house at the playboy mansion ...with roadrunner -shot down in flames!basically the worked out the day of performances it was like lear a song ,ok now we got a day learn a song now we gotta another goig that same nit , then lear another then play all 3 @playboy mansion ... every song was learned in one day...3 songs.. lick it up was a rehearsal for about 2 hours then we went to playboy mansion and performed a 3 song set ....almost all of the them have day jobs and have bands or have been playing for years ! like me i front 2 bands ... but will admit kiss is not my forte!i did sing it because its Paul Stanley camp! more a zepp -ac/dc metal rock type of singer but the final performance we were spectacular(1 min roar after shot down in flames! ...i would have to say that our weakest song was lick it up yes but even so we brought down the house ...i hope that clears up some questions about the rehearsal footage we gad probably practice for about 16 2 days by time we had got to learn that lick it up song ...
