Behold: Midnite Eve May Be the New Hanoi Rocks

Do you know Sweden's Midnite Eve? The band hasn't been around for very long. They are so new their debut EP isn't even out yet! They are drumming up fans and notoriety from the Internet and radio programs like Hard Rock Nights. The band just released a video for the song "Bad Brand." Maybe it is just me, but I think Midnite Eve sounds pretty much exactly like Hanoi Rocks. You listen and let me know if you agree. And you gotta love the singer with the impossibly Swedish blond hair!

Looks like a bunch of junior high kids got together back around 1985, dressed up like a blend of 3 or 4 of their favorite Sunset Strip hair bands, and started jumping around in front of their dad's cutting-edge video camera. They look like goofs. Surprisingly catchy little tune coming out of my speakers, though, which belies the apparent amateurishness. I hear less glam/sleaze rock than I do straight-ahead rock 'n roll, but then that's a fine line sometimes anyway.

heard it a thousand times before already boring generic crap, sorry just my opinion

Nothing new, but I've certainly heard worse, and they seem to be having fun, so more power to 'em. Song could have been shorter though, kind of lost my attention by the last minute; this kind of stuff rarely needs more than 4 minutes or so.

I wouldn't say exactly as no one sounds like Mike Monroe; he was/is unique but the music is a similar style for sure. I'm not sure Scandinavian bands can escape the influence of Hanoi much like American bands couldn't escape the influence of Van Halen in the early and mid-80s. Hanoi's music did have a darker edge though.
