The Pretty Reckless: I Dig 'Em

So the Lollapalooza lineup is out for this summer -- it was released just yesterday. While I didn't find any Glam bands on the massive list,  my eyes did stop on The Pretty Reckless. "They sound Glam," I thought. So I looked them up on YouTube and clicked their video for "Miss Nothing." I have to admit I was immediately impressed.

The Pretty Reckless are not Glam, but the influence is there to be sure. And the singer, Taylor Momsen (she was on Gossip Girl, by the way), sounds like a mix of Carrie Underwood, Niki Barr and Lady Gaga. I like the guitar riff and the video for "Miss Nothing." At one point, Momsen is prancing around on the long dinner table and I was instantly reminded of the table/guitar solo scene in RATT's "Round and Round" video. The good news is that now I've got a new band to get into and follow.

The Pretty Reckless are on Interscope and they've got other big shows coming up besides Lollapalooza including Germany's Rock Am Ring. Check them out if you don't know them and give me your opinion.

Cool chick singer! Too bad the arrangments went too Generock and Modern Rock (redundant) production-wise!

I got this album in a batch of stuff. I have been listening to it for a while and really like. If I had realized that t he singer was the underage girl that was flashing her boobs and saying how much she likes porn to get attention, I would not have bothered. I still like it but am a little ashamed.
It is on sale at Best Buy for $7.99 as part of their Find It First

Metalboy...Not sure if you're referring to me or not but I don't care for Ugly Kid Joe either except for 'I Hate Everything About You' which kinda made me laugh. I always thought of it as a novelty track.

Sounds a lot like Paramore.

Hey, One, sorry 'bout that.

Gotta admit, I have "I Hate Everything About You" on my iTunes, but not on any playlists. I've got their crap albums, too, but really it's just because of my obsessive compulsive completist nature.

Hell, I have Barry Manilow's Greatest Hits, too, hahaha!!!, which I consider a comedy album even though I actually like him better than UKJ. Plus, I always wanted to do a "Metalized" version of "Mandy". Now THAT'S comedy.

Look, I'll give UKJ one thing... Their version of Sabbath's "N.I.B." off of the fantastic 1994 compilation album, "Nativity In Black", is excellent.

And, JN, I actually think these guys are more straight ahead than Paramore, though you are right to some degree.
