South Texas Rock Fest Is Back

Posted on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 12:01AM by Registered CommenterAllyson B. Crawford | Comments8 Comments

Feel like the summer festival calendar is jam-packed? Well, South Texas Rock Fest is back, but this time in the fall. The fest will take place in San Antonio, Texas October 7 and 8.

So far, the bands announced are Quiet Riot, Moxy and Stephen Pearcy. Obviously, more bands will be added. The actual event location is the Sunken Garden. I've never been there, but the pictures show that it will be a great venue for a festival. Plus, San Antonio in October means great temperatures, too.

The official website is under maintenance, so I don't have information on ticket prices or anything of that sort. Keep checking back for information and band announcements.

I saw a show at the Sunken Garden about 10 years a go its a cool place. San Antonio is a great place for a long weekend lots of things to do on the river walk.
Hopefully they book some bands that are worth seeing QR and Pearcy doesnt justify the travel.

I was at the last STRF @ the Sunken Gardens a couple years ago & altho the only good band there was Saxon & Snake Skin Prison(A local band) the place is really cool! The stage is kinda like a Greek Amphitheater with Pillows on the sides & a tunnel underneath where you can stand out in the front or go to the other side of the stage but like Sleaze Rocker said they will have to have a lot better bands that Moxy, QR & Stephen Percy for me to make the almost 500 mile trip again. Thanks allyson for the info & keep us posted when you get more band info.

Sunken Gardens in San Antonio is a great venue.
70's legends STARZ & Legs Diamond perform there pretty much annually.

I saw Iron Maiden there several years ago. A good venue but it was HOT. So October should be much better. The bands announced so far don't excite me enough to drive over from Houston.

Pearcy can't sing anymore...voice is shot. QR without Dubrow is questionable, but I'm glad to see them out gigging. UFO will draw Eddie Trunk and 7 other people. Saxon may be the surprise performance...I've never seen them live. Like everyone else, I'm going to need a stronger lineup.
