Colton Dixon Sang White Lion on 'American Idol' Last Night

Every season of American Idol seems to have a rocker... and this year, we've got Colton Dixon. Colton is one of my favorites in the competition... and imagine my surprise when he busted out White Lion's "Broken Heart" last night! I can't recall another time when a White Lion song made it on to American Idol, so score one for Glam!

Check it out:

Here's the original.

Hmm, I am glad the band got props for the song but I will stick to listening to the WL version. Rock on White Lion!

It was a pretty lackluster version, although I do think its cool he did it. And screw that lame-ass black guy fro now knowing the song.

cool to hear a white lion song on AI but that version sucked compared to the lion, sounds like one f those shit bands like hedley or one of them like that doing a cover version

Didn't like it. Plus Colton Dixon sounds like a porn star name.

What a great song and what a great job this kid did with it! Also, major props to him for pickin' a song that's not on tip of everyone's tongue.

What is with Steven and Randy? Who the hell cares whether anyone's heard the song before or not. Why should that be any criteria for performing a particular song?

And shame on Steven for not liking the song. It's an awesome song and it's an awesome performance, for sure.

So cool to hear White Lion on Idol, exposing them to all those millions of fans that otherwise may have never heard it.

Great tune and good vocals, The band looked like there was a guitar and bass but all you hear is a keyboard. They could have rocked it out a bit more.

Oh, and he screws the lyrics up at the beginning - he says 'Why she LET'S me' instead of 'Why she LEFT me'- kinda changes the context of the song.

it's not a screw up. it's YOUR interpretation of what's going on. I think "lets" is better (without the apostrophe). DAMN! now I'm getting all grade school catholic school grammer on your asses.

Fletch, though I'm hit or miss in the Grammar department (as you, more than anybody, may know), you are 110% correct, sir.
