Loudest Concert Crowd Ever?

Generally when the word concert comes up, you probably immediately think of a rock or metal band. And mostly every crowd is loud, especially when there are a lot of special effects like pyro continually going off to keep people interested and "wowed."

The other day Vanilla Ice did a surprise performance of "Ice Ice Baby" during The Package Tour which is New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men. Holy crap what a loud crowd! The shrieking and screaming actually made me jump when I watched the video for the first time. Watching the clip sort of made me wonder if the crowd reaction was one of the loudest in history. I've been in a lot of loud crowds -- but I don't know if any of those experiences compare to the one below. I guess it has a lot to do with women and young girls shrieking or something. What is the loudest concert, crowd wise, you've ever attended?

Always remember that interview where he tries to play off that he didn't use Queen's Under Pressure as the same hook for his song.

Hey what you can say though... placed looked packed and by the looks of it a good time. Its timeless... chicks dig boy bands.

Regardless of the type of music, there is something about live, loud crowds that is just cool - it's a huge rush being in a crowd like that.

The loudest crowd I remember was Metallica at Maple Leaf Gardens during the black album tour - it was just a non-stop, 2+ hour roar. A close second would be Motley Crue at the Skydome for the Dr. Feelgood tour. I remember them opening with Red Hot and it took about 90 seconds before I could hear the music above the crowd.

GNR - Correction. Chicks who have questionable taste in music dig boy bands. Not all of us.

LMAO @ Rita!! Spot on sister!! As for my personal experience, I'd have to say Kiss at the old Philly Spectrum back in 1978. Place was virtual insanity, from the opening chords to the final encore. Best stage show I've ever witnessed. Running a close second would be Van Halen on the 1984 tour and AC/DC on the Back In Black tour, both at the same venue. Also, Motley back in 2005 on the Carnival of Sins tour at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa. Crowd was so loud that it took me the better part of 3 minutes to figure out they opened with Shout At The Devil.

@Gary - I was going to say Van Halen on the 1984 tour as well, but that was my first arena rock show and I was in awe at the entire experience, so my imagination has probably made the crowd crazier than it actually was. That said, I do remember it being really, really loud, and really, really amazing.

Another memory from that show was the first & only time I've ever seen a band booed offstage. A rockabilly outfit opened (I believe they were called The Velcros) and they lasted 3-4 songs before the chants of bullsh*t, bullsh*t, bullsh*t forced them to leave the stage.

Hmm... maybe the crowd was as crazy as I remember it.

AC/DC, "Back In Black" Tour, Capital Centre, Largo, MD., August 3rd, 1980 -- The third time they played with Brian Johnson in the U.S, as they had played two nights at The Spectrum in Philly beforehand.

Maiden, Crue, Def Leppard, AC/CD etc. I've seen them all and have been blown away by some of the crowds, but for my money...20,000 screaming 6-12 y/o girls at a Taylor Swift or One Direction concert has any rock or metal band for crowd noise beat by a mile!

Over the past 25+ years of going to see live music, there have been exactly 3 times I wish I had worn ear plugs...one was Airbourne at a club show (The Basement) in Columbus, Ohio, the other 2 times were with my daughters at the Taylor Swift shows we went to.

2 hours of that high pitch screaming made we want to run for the exits (I should have learned after the first show). I can't say any crowds at any rock or metal shows I've ever been to were that defeaning loud.

hands down. no question about it: David Lee Roth/Cinderella, spectrum 1986. the loudness of that tour would've put any Motorhead show to shame. the only part of the show that I didn't enjoy was the sound.

speaking of sound...the best sounding concert to date: Robert Plant/Joan Jett; spectrum 1988.

i havent really been to all the great concerts you guys just said like the black album tour and the feelgood tour thats before my time, but i saw megadeth a few months back when they played countdown to extinction in its entirety the band was loud as hell and the crowd was just a huge rush!!! my feet didnt touch the floor for half the show. then i saw black veil brides a few months back i think the review is even on this site. the band themselves werent the loudest but the million teenage girls screaming there was definately the case.
