Queensryche Release 'Hellfire' -- New Track

Queensryche will release Condition Human on October 2. Another new track, this one called "Hellfire" is available now for streaming. The track is surprisingly heavy and really sounds like the Queensryche we all know. Thoughts?

The one minute intro sounds great. Then it the same old plodding, high pitch lyrics, blah blah blah. They are really good musicians, it's just not my cup of tea.

They should write scores for video games and movies. Sure there is tons of money there.

Neither camp in the now less interesting Ryche/Tate saga is doing themselves any favors by going back to a well that pretty much ran dry when DeGarmo looked around and went "Uh, no."

Tate says he never wanted to do the same ole, same ole and now is doing just that (with mixed results) on his new album. The regrouped Ryche say that they are going back to the basics and giving the fans what they want . . . but a lot of fans checked out already. And their fan base is all over the place: the operatic imagery of the early years and the pop sheen precision of the "Empire" era spawned a slew of fans at cross purposes when it came to the band. But Rokkett puts it a bit more succinctly: it is hard to grab hold of the flame again and again as you get older and older, raging against a machine as you try to find someone to fix your washer.

The split did no good for either camp, even if both camps now feel (or state) that it was the best thing that could have happened. You split a small fan base in two and you get a much smaller fan base for each group. Ryche and O:MC both lose, even if Ryche loses a bit less.

I wish no ill will upon either camp. This is a long-standing tradition (LA Guns, Great White, etc.). Just a shame that the drama couldn't be resolved.

I saw Queensryche open for Scorpions a couple of nights ago. Last time I saw Queensryche, they opened for Def Leppard on the Hysteria tour. So, it's obviously been a while.

I have to say I was surprised at how good a job Todd did. He did justice to all the older songs. Didn't miss Geoff Tate one bit. They did play a song from the new album and it didn't make me want to run out and buy it. But it did sound like Queensryche.

Overall it was a fun show and I like Todd as the singer. He's very good.

I'll just stick with my copies of Mindcrime and Empire. I still don't understand why there has to be two versions of the same band for every band.
