Lenny Kravitz, 'Human' -- New Music

Lenny Kravitz just released a lyric video for his new song "Human" from the upcoming album Blue Electric Light. That new album is due at the end of May.

This year is already a big one for Kravtiz. He is nominated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and will likely easily get in. He won the "Music Icon" statue last month from the People's Choice Awards, too. There is also a summer tour of Europe planned and I have to image some American live dates thrown in somewhere for good measure. What do you think of "Human?"

1) i have never understood people fascination with lenny. 2) this song helps my case - it sounds like a lionel richie b-side from 1986. 3) this video is awful - it’s like so loopy.

I was never a huge fan of Lenny Kravitz, but I have a couple of his albums, "Mama Said" and "Greatest Hits". I saw him in concert once, around the time of Greatest Hits album, at a club in Philly and, actually, I was bored out of my mind. I remember that I couldn't wait 'Till it was over.

Speaking of "Mama said", though, his mom was/is Roxie Roker, from the TV sitcom, The Jeffersons. She played Mrs. Jefferson's best friend, Mrs. Willis. Lenny told a story on Howard Stern that one time when he was growing up, at the height of The Jeffersons game, he came home and found his mom in the bathroom, on her knees, at the toilet wearing yellow rubber gloves and had a bucket of soapy water and a scrub brush. She was cleaning her toilet. Lenny thought it was disgusting and beneath her. He recalled saying, "Mom! Why are you cleaning the toilet?!?!? We're rich. We have a maid to do that".

Lenny's mom stood up and said, "First of all, I'm rich, not you. I hire a maid, not you. I'm cleaning my toilet because it's mine and I want it clean after I use it. Don't ever think that you're too good that you can't clean your own toilet.". She then took off her rubber gloves, gave them to Lenny along with the scrub brush and the water bucket and made him clean his toilet from there forward.

To this day, whenever I clean my toilet I remind myself Roxie Roker's message to her bratty teenage son and I've used that advice to my foster kids and my own children.

Was, is and will always be GENEROCK!

The only time I ever saw Lenny was in ‘98 when he was hangin’ waiting for someone at a table on the patio of The Four Seasons in Hollywood dressed head to toe in black leather in 88° weather! … Geezus! …

I’ll give him this, he knows how to dress the part … High grade poseurism, if there is such a thing!
