Five Finger Death Punch Releases Video For 'The Pride'

New video week continues!

Five Finger Death Punch is one of my favorite modern metal bands. 5FDP just released a video for 'The Pride,' which is one of my favorite tracks on American Capitalist.

Video footage is taken from the band's recent tour and their set at Rock on the Range last May.

Five Finger Death Punch singer Ivan Moody shares, "One of the best parts of being in this band is that we have the chance to design and build bigger and bigger live shows. Our concerts became spectacular gatherings of our extended family and we wanted to share this amazing experience with everyone. So we wrote & designed this video in dedication of our loyal, dedicated, militant fan base known as Knuckleheads who deserve the best experience we can give them.  You've all stood by us & diligently helped us introduce the world to Five Finger Death Punch and this is our way of saying Thank You! We couldn't have done any of this without all of you."

Sister Sin, 'End of the Line' -- New Video

Sister Sin have a new video for the single "End Of The Line." The song is from the forthcoming album Now and Forever, out October 22nd.

I quite like this band: a good mix of Swedish sleaze and modern edge. Sister Sin is exactly the sort of band Rock on the Range should be actively trying to recruit for their festival this coming May.

Kissin’ Dynamite, 'Six Feet Under' -- New Video

Germany's Kissin’ Dynamite has a new video for “Six Feet Under.” I really dig this band, but it's hard for me to write about it because most of the band's information is in German.

The guys in Kissin' Dynamite are currently out on tour with Dragonforce and Huntress. Here's the video for "Six Feet Under," from the album Money, Sex & Power.

Black Veil Brides Release Sample of New Song

Carrying the Glam torch, Black Veil Brides are currently finishing up the concept album Wretched And Divine: The Story Of The Wild Ones. The band released a sample of the song "In The End" via a WWE promotional clip.

The new album is due in January 2013.

Black Veil Brides is one of those really polarizing bands: people here either really love or really hate the band. I'm in the first category. I believe the BVB are really helping the Glam cause and are a complete package: songs melodic, live shows fun and they have a great Glam look to boot. Here's the sample of the new song. It's a little hard to hear, but you can tell it has promise.

New Aerosmith Song 'Street Jesus' Leaks

The new Aerosmith song "Street Jesus" just leaked online. The song is on the upcoming album Music From Another Dimension, due November 6.

Guitarist Brad Whitford has been sitting on the song a long time apparently. Steven Tyler wrote some lyrics for the tune, and here we are. Bassist Tom Hamilton says the song has a Toys In the Attic vibe. I don't know about that exactly, but it does have a throw back vibe. Check it out:

Kix 'Live In Baltimore' - The Bring Back Glam! Album Review

Kix recently released the CD/DVD combo Live in Baltimore via Frontiers. This review focuses on the CD only. A digital version with alternate tracks is also available (more on that below).

Kix performed to a capacity crowd at Ram’s Head Live in Baltimore and the show was recorded for this combo.

Here’s the track listing:

1. No Ring Around Rosie
2. Atomic Bombs
3. Lie Like A Rug
4. Don’t Close Your Eyes
5. Girl Money
6. Cold Blood
7. Cold Shower
8. She Dropped Me The Bomb
9. Blow My Fuse
10. Kix Are For Kids
11. Midnite Dynamite
12. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah

A quick glance by any Kix fan will reveal that most of the live tracks were taken from the band’s most successful album Blow My Fuse.

Highlights of the record include “Girl Money,” “Cold Blood” and “Cold Shower.” These songs represents a very tight portion of the band’s live show.

Beginning with “No Ring Around Rosie” surprises me, as Kix usually start their show with “Hot Wire,” which isn’t part of the “core” CD but is on the DVD release. I think this is an error as “Hot Wire” deserves to be on the CD.

Kix has done a good job of spanning their entire career with the chosen tracks, even if Cool Kids and Show Business are ignored and really, the track “Cool Kids” should be here. Still, the casual fan gets what the band is about in a nice and tidy package that clocks in at under an hour. The die hard fans already own this record and wanted it in their collections a decade ago!

In 1993, Kix released the album called Kix Live (sometimes called contractual obligation live), largely touted as one of the best live albums of the Glam genre. The sound on Kix Live is huge. There is some song overlap here, but several tracks are different, making Live In Baltimore a must purchase.

One of the things I hate of all new releases these days are all the different versions available to the consumer. When I buy an album, I want to know that I am getting every track. Unfortunately, the physical release of Live In Baltimore leaves out tracks like “Sex” and “Same Jane,” two of my favorites. These songs are bonus material on the digital release. You can head to Amazon and buy each song download separately, including the bonus tracks. ("Same Jane" is available as a bonus track on the Japanese version of the CD audio part of the CD/VD package).

Now, to be fair, the limited amount of songs on the CD isn't really the band's fault. The band was only allowed to put 12 tracks on the CD, which is why there are so many more songs on the DVD.

The disc ends with a 17 minute (!) rendition of “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah” which is always a good time. Every Kix fan knows that each live show is different – you never know which version of “Yeah” you’re going to get. I’ve even been to a Kix show where the song was cut for time (travesty!) and people left confused.

Bottom line: you need this album. As a band, Kix has recently promised that they are working on some new songs and that will be huge. In the meantime, Live In Baltimore should tide you over.

Deep Purple Vs. Rush - Who Do You Choose For the Rock Hall?

So by now you probably know the 2013 nominees for the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. In case you don't know, here's the list:

·    The Paul Butterfield Blues Band
·    Chic
·    Deep Purple
·    Heart
·    Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
·    Albert King
·    Kraftwerk
·    The Marvelettes
·    The Meters
·    Randy Newman
·    N.W.A
·    Procol Harum
·    Public Enemy
·    Rush
·    Donna Summer

New this year, the Rock Hall is allowing for a fan vote! This means you will have some say (it isn't clear how much weight the fan vote gets) in picking one of the new inductees. To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination... this means 1987.

I'm sure that the top vote getters from the BBG! crowd will be either Deep Purple or Rush, hence the post title. I'll let the cat out of the bag... and let you know I believe both bands deserve to get in. After all, five acts from the above list will get inducted. I also think Joan Jett and the Blackhearts deserve a nod, as does Donna Summer and Public Enemy.

Vote for your favorites now. Voting is open until Dec. 3.
